Cowart's Common Room

On behalf of the farmer, Amy and myself, we just want to say a big thank you for your kind thoughts and words following our very sad news yesterday about Chi-Chi. It was difficult and I dreaded all day having to break the news to Amy. She cried for a while then expressed how much she loved Chi-Chi saying she would miss her very much. She asked if she would be in Heaven with Granddad and Jim and mentioned a few dogs that we have lost together with various lambs. I said that she would be with them, no longer suffering and able to eat lots of carrots and apples. Amy seemed to understand that and moved on to something else. We feel she took it remarkably well.

Thanks again,
CJ xx

well done you have prepared her well. Death is inevitable but how we deal with it isn't. Life is a journey and how we travel distinguishes us. As a loving mum you are doing a great job

Mountainear's Avatar Phew! Sigh of relief I imagine from you and the farmer. You've obviously said the right things.

Westerwitch's Avatar Well done Crystal. Such a relief for you and the Farmer. Amy obviously has a good grounding when it comes to people and animals 'moving on'.

Arosebyanyothername's Avatar I'm sorry I didn't get to send sympathy yesterday - I was rather involved with a drama of my own.
So very sad to lose a beloved animal but love strengthens us to face these things. Glad to hear that Amy has taken it well. Rosie

Cait's Avatar I missed this yesterday Crystal, I am really sorry about Chi-Chi's passing.
A big hug for you all,

Ivy's Avatar Oh what a healthy reaction your little princess showed there. She took it very well as it seems even if she might have the occasional outburst of tears in the days to come when she realises that Chichi is really not were she used to be, but I reckon that this would be normal.

TIGGYWINKLE's Avatar I'm so happy that little Amy coped well with the sad news of Chi-Chi's death. It is amazing how imagery works. I can just see her vision of the animals up in pet heaven having a lovely time. It must be so sad for you and Farmer too. Love to you all.

Angel's Avatar Well done Crystal

It is hard when something like this happens-think you've handled it perfectly. Childrens logic and resilience constantly amazes me and so glad you could find the way to help Amy understand it. As Ivy said-just keep an eye on her-iIt is so important for our children to 'kind of' understand death and the grieving process (especially with her lifestyle on a farm)

take care

Withy Brook's Avatar Good news. And as they say, keep an eye on her and help her to have her moments of missing him - as you two will too.

Camilla's Avatar So pleased to hear that Amy took it well Crystal, I must admit I was a tad worried for her, and was thinking of her.

Love and Hugs to you.
