Cowart's Common Room
travel insurance

My daughter is going to America in the summer for 2 weeks. She's going with her Grannie who already has travel insurance. I'm trying to get a quote for my daughter on her own, but having problems as she is only 15. They don't seem to want to quote for a 15 year old on her own. It may be that we have to get insurance for them both in the end but I am certain that other 15 year olds have travelled alone before! Any ideas?

I had absolutely no problems getting insurance for my daughter to travel on her own (as a guest of other famlies) to both America, and Europe, using Direct Line Insurance. The first time she was 13.

You will be the Insured, but she will be the person insured. I telephoned them, and found them very helpful, and they provided specific cover for Robyn's Asthma.

They got caught in Hurricane Charlie on one trip to Florida and I was very glad of the insurance, although it didn't cover the additional costs of finding somewhere new to stay when the villa they were staying in became uninhabitable because of the damage.

Westerwitch's Avatar What about adding your daughter to her Grannie's insurance as Grannie will be accompanying her.
