Went to Chanonry last night with HO, lovely evening light so I got my camera out for a change and took quite a few photos... whilst HO took none as there were no Dolphins about!
This is where we got married and the last lighthouse keepers wife has just brought out his memoirs of his (and his fathers and grandfathers) life as a keeper all over Scotland.

Fennie's Avatar A hurried search via Google Maps and I find it is near Rosemarkie where I once went swimming (unless there are other Rosemarkies) but as I would have been staying at Conon Bridge it is probably that one. Yes, it all looks very beautiful and even more so with dolphins I imagine. Very HappyVery Happy

Fairy Nuff's Avatar We all went swimming there Fennie it's a lovely shallow bay (even if the sand is a bit sharp!)
The beach cafe and tennis courts were built in the 1920's so would have been there when you were... in fact the grass next to it was where everyone had their picnics.

Fennie's Avatar Yes, that looks like something I remember. Don't remember the dolphin though, but it was well over half a century ago.Very Happy

Lampworkbeader's Avatar Lovely! Why travel abroad when there are such lovely places to visit in Scotland.

Fairy Nuff's Avatar They were there then Fennie, we know they've been here at least since the early 1700s although they were often referred to locally as Porpoise, anything that wasn't big enough to undoubtedly be a whale was a porpoise.

My thoughts exactly Lampie.Very Happy
