Cowart's Common Room
Lunch in the Shard

Interesting variation of the anxiety dream this morning - not sure whether anyone is interested in such things but it will fill a space and it seems worth writing down.

Well, I shorted the pound. Or at least I tried to. 'Shorting' is when you sell something you don't own and buy it back later when the price has fallen. Of course if the price rises then you lose money. It's the basis of hedge fund operations. George Soros allegedly made 'billions' by shorting the pound on Black Wednesday. I have to add that I am not a gambler: I don't even do the lottery.

But anyway I thought I'd have a punt and I telephoned to a City firm. They asked me how much and I said 'a hundred' and confirmed it would be pound against the dollar.

The next step was to meet in a plush city restaurant - lots of fine people about, I felt grand. I think we were in The Shard. I saw a different gentleman and when he asked me to confirm 'a hundred' I said make that two hundred. I felt on top of the world. He said it was risky. We parted. He would action the deal immediately.

But then on the way home I realised that when I said 'two hundred' he probably assumed I meant £200,000. After all no-one in the City would deal with trifling amounts. If the pound rose by 10 per cent instead of falling I could lose £20,000, plus fees of several thousand more! I started to sweat and fortunately woke up. My time as a City high roller at an abrupt end. Phew!

Where does the mind get such ideas from? Still it was good while it lasted. Very HappyVery Happy

Camilla's Avatar You had me worried there for a moment Fennie it wasn't until I got to the end that I realised you were dreaming. Perhaps you saw my comment the other day about winning the lottery and this lead you to the dream.Very Happy

Re:
Fairy Nuff's Avatar LaughingThat's an interesting one Fennie, something tells me you've been looking as too many Brexit figures! ...although I suspect you need to add several more "0's" to the figures. Blink

Re:
KitKatCot's Avatar A big thank you, Fennie, for posting your dreams. I now know I am not alone in waking up and thinking 'What was that all about'.

The worst thing is that years ago dreams were just vague dreams, forgotten as soon as soon as you woke up. Now they appear to be so much more real.

The dreams I really hate are those that I'm just about to discover the meaning of, when I am awoken by Himself going to Loo!
