Cowart's Common Room
Sunday Lark

Morning Larks.

19 degrees today with a moderate breeze at least those fierce winds have gone, it does feel quite muggy though, rain is expected later this morning .

Hope any of our friends who live in Wales are safe from the floods recently, know our Fennie lives in Wales but I don't think looking at the map he is in the part which was affected.

Woke up early this morning and just on my third cup of tea, have a good Sunday everyone .Very Happy

Re:
Fennie's Avatar Oh the tea-lady!

No we have been lucky! The storm gods of Callum have delivered little more than drizzle and gusts. Not even both at the same time. The worse thing has been the light. Darkness at Noon - thick grey clouds, thicker grey light. Indeed grey darkness.

Have to do my Cowbridge tour on Friday (subject to Callum) and spent some time yesterday reading up. How fascinating history is and how soon forgotten. We have a West, South and Eastgate to the Town. But no one knows whether there was a North gate. The modern books say yes but the older books indicate doubt on the practical grounds of their being no where to go to from a North Gate, there being no roads and instead just a marsh.

Re:
Camilla's Avatar Morning Fennie and everyone,

Except the tea ladies never looked anything like that in my day years agoVery Happy

Pleased to hear where you live you have escaped the storm, fingers crossed for your Cowgridge Tour on Friday Fennie. But was there a road on the North Gate before even the marshes set in I wonder.

Re:
Camilla's Avatar Two years today we have lived in our new house seems to have gone quick I do know that since we have lived here not all has been plain sailing that's for sure. Boiler kept going wrong, the electrics, bad health one way and another for me and HL.

Re:
Fairy Nuff's Avatar It's a bit like Essex, Sussex, Middlesex and Wessex, there's no Northex.Laughing

Re:
Fennie's Avatar There's no Middlegate here either, although there is a Middlegate Court which is an entirely modern housing development.

There's a North Road but that runs East-West and beyond that is or used to be Marsh.

Re:
Fennie's Avatar Camilla, maybe you have Gremlins in the house. If you believed Exmoor Jane you would make yourself comfortable in a quiet room and go into a dream like trance and talk to the house about how it felt and what it wanted you to do and how you could make it happy. The house will then tell you what you ought to do and how you could start co-operating. The house may be upset by a little thing like Patch's barking and almost certainly will not have like a 55 inch television. It may be planning its revenge even now. It might even be the sort of house that doesn't like hollyhocks. It's all in Jane's book 'Spirit of the Home.' So have a conversation with your house and see what happens.

Re:
Camilla's Avatar Yes could try that Fennie, that's a lovely book of Jane's.

Talking of North I live just on edge of North Park Rd beyond that there is no where else to lead to except to the entrance to the dunes. But the dunes is so vast one can also go to the dunes another entrance but that leads from the beach road.Very Happy

Re:
Fairy Nuff's Avatar Every one here refers to North Kessock and South Kessock because the old ferry crossed between the two, but there really are no such places... there is Kessock on the North shore and Merkinch on the south shore.
It confuses the hell out of anyone driving through Inverness looking for South Kessock 'cos it's not on any of the road signs. Rolling EyesLaughing
