Cowart's Common Room

Cowbridge has been shortlisted in the Great British High Street Awards. I know this as I picked up a leaflet to this effect yesterday as I was going to, or coming from, my French class - a useful antidote you might think as they don't really have 'High Streets' in French towns, the model being more to have a square - a High Square - if you like.

Anyway this leaflet asks me to 'Vote Cowbridge!' which I should be pleased to do if I knew how and so I am posting this by way of asking for help. The instruction is

#GBHS Cowbridge PLUS #MyHighStreet

Then there's a lot of business about tagging friends, local hubs and society pages and to follow @CowbridgeMy for news and updates

All of which is gobbledygook to a technophobe like me. I can just about post on facebook but haven't a clue about Instagram or Twitter. So help, please, if any of you understand what I am meant to do. Do I have to do two things on all three media? Rolling EyesRolling Eyes

Camilla's Avatar Morning Fennie and everyone,

I would post on FB, my son set up a Twitter account for me and also Instagram but with these two I am still a novice. Just do what you think is best Fennie, you could post and do the FB one, perhaps someone else on Coo can give you more instructions on the others. Good Luck.!Very Happy

Fairy Nuff's Avatar You just have to use the hashtags anytime you are on any one of the three social media sites.
if you put...

#GBHSCowbridge #MyHighStreet the bottom of a post it can be counted by the competition organisers using internet algorithm-y things.

p.s. no space between GBSH and Cowbridge, you don't use spaces in hashtags or they are seen as separate words, hence the capital letters for each word instead.

So... if you go onto Facebook and write a nice little post about the competition including the hashtags #GBHSCowbridge #MyHighStreet at the bottom you can ask your friends to share the post or use the two hashtags themselves to count as a vote.

Fairy Nuff's Avatar Of course the post doesn't need to be about the competition you just need to add the 2 hashtags to anything you post on any of the sites to count as a vote.
@CowbridgeMy is the towns twitter name.

Camilla's Avatar Went for a very long walk over the dunes yesterday afternoon the dunes here are sooo vast, HL was with me this time and as you know he is diabetic, anyway we got separated with him decided to go another way over there thinking I was behind him I could not find him so made my way home with Patch trouble was HL had Patch lead in his pocket and I needed this to lead Patch home again once we got through the dunes entrance. Luckily I had a long scarve on and used that tied on the link to Patch harness. Forgot my phone so could not ring his mobile either. Met a man over the dunes who said to me... have you lost your dog... no I said I have lost my husband to which made him laugh.Very Happy rang HL on phone when I got back home and he said he was making his way home.. phew.! nightmare.Rolling Eyes

KitKatCot's Avatar If you just google 'Great British High Street Awards' and then search for Cowbridge you will be able to vote there.

Fairy Nuff's Avatar I wouldn't know anything about hashtags or Twitter if HO didn't have to use it a lot for his work.
