Cowart's Common Room
Sunny lark again
Yet another sunny morning. I get torn between being sad to see our brown lawn and enjoying the lovely sunny warm weather. Another thing that is happening is that shrubs and roses are flowering prolifically due to the weather last summer and this spring but - they are going over far too quickly because of the heat. Still, I'll opt for the heat!

Very hot here this morning already and no doubt even hotter when we go over to our daughters this afternoon for her husband's big birthday 40th celebration to be held in the garden with BBQ they live more inland so hotter then here on the coast. Patch will be boarding with my pal Elaine today and no doubt will have lots of fun with her 4 dogs too. We shall be back home tonight about 10pm.
Our front lawn is terribly brown too Withy starched by the hot sun too. There is a climbing rose here in the garden which was here when we moved in no idea what one it is called only that it is a repeat flowering one heavily scented and begins the shade of bright orange then turns to coral and finally to light pink. I keep deheading and have been lucky they keep blooming. The Hollyhocks are now all of them in flower mostly they look like double Hocks and not single ones and about 15ft high! Will try and take a pic when I can. I like the heat Withy but not too hot I have just switched on my trusty electric fan to cool then heard my HL come downstairs he walked into the sitting room and switched it off I said its hot he said it costs too much ...... Argh!!
Have a good weekend Withy and everyone .

It is however noticeably shorter than it normally would be at this time of year and there aren't nearly so many of the tiny fairy grass moths we normally have flitting around the grass seed heads.
The ground underfoot when we were up at Dunnet head on Monday was frighteningly dry though, the peaty grassy headland was like walking on a bed of crisps.
