Morning all.
Doors and windows flung wide open again, tea on hand and sun-catchers in the making... the day is shaping up well so far. HO is off out on one of the tour boats today with some guests from WDC Germany, they've got a lovely day for it, the sea is flat calm.

Fennie's Avatar What is a sun-catcher? And how do you make them? Very Happy

Fairy Nuff's Avatar Something pretty you hang in a window or perhaps on a tree to catch the light of the sun, they normally have crystals or such like on them.

Mine are made from copper wire and glass beads and hung from a piece of driftwood... about to take a work in progress pic for the Studio FB page I'll pop it up here too.

Westerwitch's Avatar Love the sound of your sun catchers - can I see an image of them anywhere?

Not sure I go on board anything even in flat calm #worstsailorever

Fennie's Avatar I have known dream catchers in New England and thought they came from the native people that lived there before the arrival of alien hords. Spidery, webby, sort of things that were supposed to catch ethereal dreams, though no one said what you were to do with them. but I suppose if you were dreaming of your beloved you might want a replay, or I suppose you could share with others like a kind of folk instagram. Very Happy

Fennie's Avatar But look forward to your image of a sun catcher. If I could catch the sun right now I think I would put it in a bag to bring out in the depths of a wet Welsh winter. Very Happy

The dangly bits get suspended from the driftwood branch eventually by a copper hooky twiddly bit then hang up with a piece of jute twine.

I have a dream catcher above my bed Fennie, I've had it for decades. They are meant to catch bad dreams... I'm not yet convinced.Neutral

Faith's Avatar Dream catchers are often like nets and sometimes have feathers on them. I have heard of them before but not sun catchers. I'm sure yours will be very pretty FN.

Fairy Nuff's Avatar The flower is a Ragged Robin Camilla, they are quite rare now but we still have wee pockets of them in the Highlands. These were on Dunnet Head on Monday growing in the ditches among the peat bog.
