Cowart's Common Room

Meet Purkey, the lovebird, which seems to be a species of parrot but which is already sitting on Theo's finger. The boy and his bird. He arrived yesterday, did Purkey, unless of course he is a she in which case I suppose we might call her Purdey which I already do unless I am very careful. I wonder what the bird will call itself if it learns to talk. Anyway Theo is a happy little person and Purdey will divert him from Minecraft.

Yesterday we had our remembrance parade and service. All the churches get together and the service is taken by clergymen (and clergy women) representing several denominations of Christianity, including the priest from the Roman Catholic St Cadoc's church down the road. This is a modern and utilitarian small building and I wonder if he is ever envious of the much larger and older Holy Cross. For the first two hundred years of its life this would have been a Catholic church and no doubt the large expanses of white wall would have been covered with medieval wall paintings. But the Catholics were evicted almost 500 years ago. I was sitting in one of the side aisles -Llanquian aisle - money for which was donated by Anne Neville the wife of Richard III, who for some reason had a fondness for Cowbridge. Well, it is still there, Anne, and going strong with its boxed pews each with its little door.

Hope everyone has a good day and this is the start of a good week. We are still technically in autumn though it feels as though winter has arrived already.

Camilla's Avatar Feeling rather sorry for Patch today I can't walk him at the moment due to my disability still and HL is feeling rough today he says and has gone back to bed for an hour..... Patch has had a small walk this morning though but he is resting to go still. Might ring my pal Elaine and ask if she can board him for couple of days she is brilliant with Patch and he loves her dogs too his little pals.

Fennie's Avatar Poor old Patch. Maybe you could buy him a very long piece of elastic - then he would tear out of the house and down to the beach and into the sea to bark at the seals but by then the elastic would have stretched and stretched and twang (he's only a small dog) he would be flying backwards through the air and in through the cat flap, walk over. Only a horizontal bungee jump. Very HappyVery Happy
