Hello Owls and Larks.

A busy day of chores are there any end of chores!

Lots of rain intervals but hopefully it will be less wet later, the nights seem to be drawing in more lately almost dark by 7pm gone.

Off to dream pilows soon, if you can't sleep and there are others on line then have a natter here.

Re:
Fennie's Avatar Oh no! I wrote a long comment on this and it has disappeared. I put the laughter emojs at the end and move on and then the comment is deleted. Happens so often. More haste less speed. But I was telling you about the programme on Gertrude Bell last night and her letters and relating those to the one this lady was reading and wondering whether it was a letter from the plains or hills of Gallipoli where Gertrude Bell's lover had been killed in 1915 and remarking that it seemed to be short and saying that this lady reminded me of my grandmother who was also voluptuous (by all accounts as she died before I was born) and who had red hair and coming from Ireland had a subdued hankering after green velvet but I didn't suppose this was my grandmother who was said to have met the Prince of Wales on one occasion, but I am not sure how or why and suspect some family fiction here. Still she is my route to Irish citizenship should ever I feel compelled to go down that route. I think my grandmother had longer hair. She could sit on it apparently. Do wonder what was in the letter. Perhaps that could be a homework. But watch the Gertrude Bell programme perhaps on catch-up if you have a moment.Very HappyVery Happy Now press COMMENT.

Re:
Camilla's Avatar Well I think that is another premonition Fennie I put up a post last night on lady of letters and turns out there was a programme last night on the same subject I knew nothing about. What channel was it on Fennie? Must catch up on that.

Both my grandmothers had red hair my mother's mother had long red hair so too did my great grandmother but they always wore it up either in bun or French knot. My father had red hair too a sort of dark red that's where I got my red hair from but decided to change into blonde . Very Happy

Just sorted out laundry and hung out, it was raining in the night so all wet and damp here but at least the rain has now stopped and the sun is now shining and patches of blue in the sky of clouds.

Re:
Fairy Nuff's Avatar I wondered why she was crumpling the love letter and dropping it on the floor till I looked at a bigger version and it's her gloves and a fan. Laughing
My one Grandmother never got a chance to be voluptuous in green velvet as she was busy looking after her Father and Brothers by the time she was 14 after he mother died.
My other Grandmother was more buxom than voluptuous and at 5'10" she towered over my 4'11" Grandfather. Laughing

Re:
Fennie's Avatar Whatever it is I can hear it whispering to the gloves: "I'm a big fan of hers." Very Happy

Actually I took it to be a paperknife and the gloves, an envelope, but you are right, FN, you are right! Very Happy

Re:
Fennie's Avatar But then I didn't know that FN's grandmother was nearly a foot taller than her grandmother. Well, they say opposites attract. Very Happy

Re:
Fairy Nuff's Avatar Here is my diminutive Grandfather resplendent in his Homeguard uniform...

...he was an Army Sergeant in WW1 too, the regiment's boxing champion despite his stature.

This is my Great Granny, Granny, Aunty and cousin in the 1930s when the newspaper took a photo of the four generations for an article. I guess when the life expectancy was less than 60 at the time it was unusual to have a Great Granny still around.
You can see Granny took after her mother in stature, actually my Great Grandpa was quite titchy too. Very Happy

Re:
Fennie's Avatar Blondes are most excellent, Camilla, and I am sure the colour suits and blondes are supposed to have more fun - though than what I am not sure. I used to be blonde until I was four, but my hair then became brown, perhaps I was having too much fun. It still is brown with the occasional reddish tinge in certain lights.
