Cowart's Common Room
Evening Post

Got back from London only about an hour ago after an horrendous drive: terrible traffic on the M25 and then an accident on the M4 which brought all traffic to a standstill for half an hour. (And it wasn't much better going up either) Still the party was fun - 19 of us together, mostly family, ranging in ages from toddlers to septuaginarians. Mix of generations.

I first met my friend 'G' 53 years ago and we've kept in touch ever since. J and I seem to have become honorary family members. In the course of dinner I was reminiscing about their wedding which was in Piccadilly and afterwards at the Café Royal. J turned to me and said 'you ought to remember you were the best man' - and here's a curious thing, though I can remember the wedding I cannot remember being best man. But I am told I gave a good speech.

Slightly plagued by a belly ache which came on before the dinner on Wednesday evening with the result that I could hardly eat anything and had to disguise a meagre fare of a couple of boiled potatoes with some lettuce - luckily it was self service. It came back again today. I do hope it disappears tomorrow. It may be connected with the driving. Still the bonus is that I shall lose some weight (perhaps).

Anyway Camilla wanted to know whether London had changed. Well, this was Surbiton, Camilla, Jerry and Margot country and now true yellow country too with the Lib Dems back in charge. But I suppose it's as much a part of London as anywhere else. Nobody makes eye contact in the street, there are far too many cars for the road space available, there is a terrible division between those who are 'comfortable' and those that aren't. A lot of money being spent on the houses but the River Thames doesn't change and is as beautiful as ever.

And now I shall watch the news and go flop into bed.Very HappyVery Happy

Camilla's Avatar Hi Fennie.

Good to know you arrived back home safely. Sorry to hear about your bad tummy ache perhaps as you say it was to do with the driving and being sat behind the wheel for some time too. Anyway do hope you will have a good restful sleep tonight back in your own comfy bed and you will feel much better by morning.

Ah Surbiton Surrey yes of course that is in the suburbs of London you could have popped in to see my son he lives in Surrey too five miles from Epsom.Very Happy

Sleep Well.

Re:
Fairy Nuff's Avatar I don't like motorway driving either, actually I don't particularly like driving at all, much happier being chauffeured. Very Happy

I hope you feel better this morning Fennie and it didn't spoil your party too much.
