Cowart's Common Room
Email of the day.

Dear Dauby

This letter is a notice regarding the death of my late client and family while on holiday at Louisiana in the USA on the August 2005 (Hurricane Katrina disaster).

According to the laws of England and Wales, My late client's bank has issued me a notice, directing me to provide the next-of-kin of my late client.I traced your email with the last name of my client.I am contacting you because you bear the same last name with my late client.I want to find out if you are in anyway related to my late client.

Regards,

Edward Hayes Esq

Considering Dauby is our imaginary Studio Elf who used to write a blog about the Studio... good luck to him. Laughing

Re:
Fennie's Avatar Well I'd tell Dauby to cash in quick. It is well known that a large number of imaginary persons with pointy ears died in the Katrina disaster and no doubt a fair few were elves. Also pixies, gremlins, goblins, hobgoblins and curricauns, so Dauby may well be the only remaining one of his clan left. But I wonder what his client's former names were? Very HappyVery Happy

Re:
KitKatCot's Avatar Seriously, although we can all laugh about these e-mail scams, at how pathetic they are and that there were about 6 clues which gave the game away, many people do fall for them.

Do these people not have parents and grandparents who would be caught out by this sort of thing?

Re:
Camilla's Avatar I agree KKC. My son has warned me about this with scams although I like to think I have some intelligence in not being drawn in but unfortuanaely some poor souls do.

Re:
Fairy Nuff's Avatar One of our PO pensioners got caught out by one, thankfully she had two bank accounts and gave them the working one and not the savings one so it only had that weeks pension in it.

Another of our PO pensioners ignored several emails that seemed to be one of these scams only to get a personal letter with far more detail in it... from her late half sister's second husband's lawyer in the USA. It was genuine and she was the only living blood relative so inherited the lot Laughing it couldn't have happened to a nicer person and will see her comfortably off for the rest of her life.
