Good morning, good morning. A new day is just dawning - well that was some hours ago but it is a new day and everything can recommence. Though the sun was shining brightly when I drew the curtains and hoisted the blinds a large grey cloud has rolled in uninvited from across the Bristol Channel and looks set to rain upon us.

This is 1st August and time for holidays though it will be the end of the month before we set off for the Isle of Wight and the end of the month following before we set off for France. Meanwhile the business is dormant, embarrassingly so for I have to keep cancelling the regular collection from UPS that picks up our parcels. But I have no regrets as we need to wind down the business anyway and it means I can resume work on the play for the French visitors next year.

Yesterday nothing much happened but I went down to the bank and asked them to send some money for me. Normally I go online and make a bacs transfer, but bacs apparently is now a thing of the past, replaced by 'faster payments' which may be fast but which are not universal - at least as yet. In the interim if you want to make payment to a bank not on the new system you either have to pay £25 or go down to your bank and ask them to make the transfer for you. Ahh, the wonders of modern times.

Have a good day everyone! I see the grey cloud has rolled away now. Very HappyVery Happy

Re:
Withy Brook's Avatar I haven't come across this faster payments yet but I shall be furious if I find I cannot pay someone. I rarely use cheques, either for payments or transfers to my children etc. Going to a bank is coming more and more difficult for many of us - closures, age etc.

Re:
Camilla's Avatar Morning Fennie and Withy.

Thank you Fennie for posting for the larks. I had to take Paracetamol last night as the pain in tooth was so severe nearly as bad as child birth! They told me to ring this morning at 8.30am which I did although actually it took me 20 minted to get through as line was engaged. Caroline told me she could not fit me in as an emergency as they were quite full up, (how then can one get an emergency if they are continually booked up this is what an emergency is all about! She said she would ring me if she could slot me in later today . Others are booked up too. I shall buy some Corsydl later and some Sensodyne toothpaste that might help.

On another note on Sunday evening I noticed my HL fiddling about with my lovely strong blue washing line I bought only just recently. I thought at the time how odd and then about half an hour of fiddling he came in to tell me it was broken and the screw at top was busted, how strange I said it was perfectly fine before apparently I am to blame I broke it!!

Load of washing to put out too it's a lovely warm sunny day today and a lovely cool breeze. Just spent an hour over the beach with Patch and we had a paddle in the sea. He came back covered in you name it and now looks all mucky, dogs!

Re:
Fairy Nuff's Avatar I would have thought all the banks had signed up to the faster payment system by now, mine has the option online of either FP or BACS.

Pretty grey and soggy here too this morning, and not many people about.

Re:
Fennie's Avatar Ah - but then you probably have an efficient Scottish Bank that bothers to look after its customers, FN Very Happy

Camilla, if the dentist is only five minutes away just go and see them - easier than messing about on the phone and perhaps the dentist might see you briefly in between appointments!

Re:
Ivy's Avatar What was he doing with the washing line?
Hope the dentist sees you soon. If not I hope the NHS provides a solution for you somehow.

Re:
Camilla's Avatar Ivy not a clue but think it was his old ways, many things broken over the years although not so much lately now. The thing I couldn't get my head around was he blamed me the line was broken!

Thanks Ivy still no dentist the health service is bonkers!

Re:
Camilla's Avatar Thanks Fennie, going to give it up now I am sure if they said they were fully booked they would not be able to fit me in.
