Cowart's Common Room
Ocktoberfest

Surprise surprise! I have just this minute learnt that Cardiff is staging its own Octoberfest in September, just to show what a European (and Remain voting) city it is. I have sent invitations to many including Ivy. But of course everyone else is welcome too. Sadly I am no longer able to drink beer in copious quantities but I should enjoy a little tipple served in the Bavarian style and with maybe a Bratwurst and fries.

I have never been to an Octoberfest though one of Younger Daughter's early boyfriends served as a waiter in the real one in Munich in times past. I asked whether he spoke German: he said 'no' but that it really didn't matter. Ah, the joys of 'free movement of the people.' Viel SpaƟ.

Re:
Camilla's Avatar Beer is a major part of German culture I am told, should think one could get a whole keg in one of those big glasses.

My son in law is travelling back from Munich today from a business trip.

Re:
Fairy Nuff's Avatar Prost!

Never been to a beerfest, been to several bearfests though, not so much drinking goes on there unless it's tea and cake.Laughing

Re:
Fennie's Avatar The best beer I ever tasted on the Continent was at the railway station in Vienna. The best beer in Ireland was at the Guinness Brewery in Dublin. Here in Britain I find it hard to say - there have been so many good beers and so many bad ones too. I find it hard to have a favourite unless it be Bass, though that depends so much on how it is kept.

What exactly is a bearfest FN? Unless it be (haha!) a Teddybearfest. Very HappyVery Happy

Re:
Fairy Nuff's Avatar Hugglets run the Winter Bearfest every year in Kensington town hall, it's a huge gathering of bear makers, bear making supplies, bear doctors and bear ephemera. There are several others across the country over the year but none near enough to us to go to normally.

Not to be confused with Bearfests across the pond that are more usually gatherings of large hairy gay men or "Bears" as they are known.
How do I know that?
Well, when I was setting up Aurorabearealis I googled it to make sure no one else was using the name. The only other Aurora Bearealis I came across was a group of large hairy gay Canadians. Laughing
