Cowart's Common Room
I Can't Sleep Chat Post

Hello Owls and Larks,

Having difficulty accessing internet this evening, very slow.

Sleepy owl tonight, just off to make a cuppa before lamps out soon.

Have a lovely weekend.

If you can't sleep and there are others on line then have a natter here.

Night Night, & Sweet Dreams

Re:
Fennie's Avatar I was a very sleepy lark last night as well and toddled to bed early, though I had done little. I did go down to the theatre last night to watch the play that my former drama society were putting on. I am afraid it was dire. I wish I could pretend this was just sour grapes on my part but as a director of plays I was longing to get on stage and completely refashion this terribly static, rigid and unengaging production. It wasn't a good play - a sixties comedy, rather dated - to begin with, but played straight as it was it came over as silly and not even funny and I was very glad when it ended. Sad

Re:
Fennie's Avatar Thank you Camilla for posting for the Owls and Larks. I'd like an outside breakfast but it's a bit damp here today with skies greyer than lead.Very HappyVery Happy

Re:
Fairy Nuff's Avatar Wet but warm here so breakfast was inside (toasted pancake and blueberry jam) the tea is still being consumed as I type.

Shame about the play Fennie, I guess every one can't be a hit but it helps to have a good script to start with. I'm the same with the choreography for some of the local groups productions, they may have been good dancers in their time (and all went to the same local dance school as I did) but that doesn't make them a good choreographer. I keep seeing the same routines and steps popping up that we were taught as kids and teenagers nothing original or new, except for one friend who has some imagination of her own.Rolling Eyes

Re:
Camilla's Avatar Morning Fennie and everyone,

Hope you managed to get a good nights sleep Fennie.

Perhaps you could rewrite that play you attended last night, what sixties production was it?

Hope the weather perks up for you soon Fennie, gentle warm sun here this morning and just a cool welcoming breeze.

Plan for today is for us to drive over to see our daughter later, I have bought a little dog car harness to fit into the back seat of the Jag so as not have him in the crate which I usually do while travelling. He is as you know a rather bouncy dog and if he was not in crate or harness he would just jump about all over the place on seats while I was driving.Very Happy so I shall put the harness to the test later.

Perhaps I need another 4x4 to put Patch in the back that would sort it, my Jag is a sports saloon one.

Re:
Fairy Nuff's Avatar ...but of course I always smile sweetly to the choreographer and say how much I enjoyed the dancing, then bump into other friends from dance class who whisper "Wasn't that dire!" Laughing

Re:
Fennie's Avatar It's some of the most elementary things, FN. Like getting actors to remember that the paying audience that pays to hear their voices and see their facial expressions and reactions is out the FRONT and not hiding in the wings, still less backstage. My other irritation is when actors only act when they have a line and seem to go to sleep in between. Very often a line calls for an action that starts long before the line is delivered and ends long after it.

Yes, it was that dire! Very Happy

Re:
Fennie's Avatar But I am afraid, Camilla, that I couldn't rewrite the play to improve it.

As for Patch, good luck with the harness, but I have a feeling that you and little Patch might benefit from dog training classes. One word from you and Patch ought simply to lie down quietly if he is trained to do this. I am sure he would prefer that to being tied up.

Re:
Fairy Nuff's Avatar Laughing You must have been typing at the same time as I was Camilla - and slotted in between my two posts.
