Cowart's Common Room
Pic of the day

Uploaded Image

I was tidying up some files on my computer and rediscovered some scans of old photos.
After training to become a Naval Engineer my Dad was on passage to Bombay when he caught chickenpox just before they arrived so they wouldn't let him back on the boat when they left again.
Instead he spent 2 years at the Naval Base in Bombay only being shipped back in time for D Day, this is him with his workmates... on dress down Friday by the looks of them! Not a Navy uniform in sight. Very Happy

Re:
Fennie's Avatar I am told that my grandmother on my mother's side was born in India around 1900. She would have been a part of the Raj.
I have been told that I could possibly claim status as a non-resident Indian as a result which might be helpful if I wanted to buy land or property there. Very Happy

Re:
Fairy Nuff's Avatar I can't imagine Navy whites would be much use in the workshops or engine rooms, Khaki is much more practical for everyday.

You could perhaps open your own Best Marigold Hotel Fennie? Very Happy
