Cowart's Common Room
Ever decreasing circles.

Do hope you have a better night Camilla and that the shoulder pain eases, if only for the night. Were that to happen to a real owl then the real owl would have problems and might have to fly in circles, not perhaps a concept too far fetched for someone is proposing I see circular runways the idea being that you can always land into the wind. The circle is very big so the sections are almost straight, though I am not sure whether anyone has built one yet. But a small circular runway could be interesting with the passengers all reduced to dizziness upon landing. It would save space though.

My contribution to own aeronautics (apart from many flying models built in my younger days) was to suggest a vane bolted to the aircraft's wheels in order for the air to make them turn so that when the plane came into land you would avoid that extraordinary screech as yet another streak of rubber was left on the runway. It could be done quite easily. The idea went as far as a BA pilot who thought it might work but I never heard anything further. She was BA's first female pilot some years ago and her brother prints our labels so it's a small, and circular, world. She used to fly up and down Bradan's beat too. Very HappyVery Happy

Re:
Camilla's Avatar Aw, thank you Fennie fingers crossed I do well hopefully past 5am at least. I read somewhere recently that one of the female TV presenters in early morning on BBC1 rises from her bed Mon to Fri at 3.30am to be in the studio in enough time to go over scripts and Co-present the programme this means she has to be in bed by 9.30pm and no later at night, no good if you are a insomniac owl.Very Happy

Good idea about the runway Fennie not sure it would take off though pardon the pun.Very Happy

Re:
Fennie's Avatar Yes the early morning presenters have to rise early. I sometimes wonder what the attraction is.

Have you never flown Camilla? What is this fear of flying - did you have a bad experience once? Safer to fly than to drive. Still there's a 'first' for you then, when you venture aloft.Very HappyVery Happy

Re:
Fairy Nuff's Avatar A circular runway seems eminently sensible to me.
I could count on one hand how often I've flown anywhere (not counting there and back separately, one has to come back again!) Three holidays and two auditions.
There seems to be an awful lot of waiting around compared to the short flight time, even worse now I should think.
