Cowart's Common Room
I Can't Sleep Chat Post

Hello Owls and Larks,

Do hope you all had a lovely weekend.

Very hot here today even hotter than yesterday but thankful for the cool breeze. In November last year I came across a little packet of Hollyhock seeds that I found in a little nic nac box I had brought with me from my old house. I thought I had originally lost them and they were given to me from my very dear departed friend Angela from the seed pods of her own Hollyhock plants must have been about 8 years ago. Angela was a friend who I used to visit here in Norfolk the one who had a jetty and a stream at the bottom of her garden. Well, I decided to scatter those seeds last November in our new garden thinking I bet they don't flower, and to my amazement they have turned into healthy green plants of which I am sure the flowers will follow later in the summer. Very Happy

Hope our Fennie is not too poorly with the old bug, maybe a summer cold, look after yourself Fennie... and don't forget the warm honey to soothe.

If you can't sleep and there are oters on line then have a natter here.

Night Night, & Sweet Dreams

Fennie's Avatar What with your back and Bradan's rib and my little bug we are a collective of crocks. I have poetic licence to exaggerate my troubles, however. I am not really ill just a little zonked. You too are much worse and I send healing vibes of the strongest sort and mixed with honey, too.

I have never had success with Hollyhocks Camilla - perhaps because I try to grow them in pots, but they are beautiful plants and well done for growing them.

As for the glasses - I try to have several pairs in the house of reading glasses as I am always losing them. I even have a pair of tinted ones for the garden if I want to sit outside and read, though it is usually too windy, our garden being a species of wind tunnel.

The collection of hammocks all bunched together is reminiscent of Nelson's navy!Very HappyVery Happy

Fennie's Avatar I see Camilla is on line but I fear she must have drifted off on her ten cushions. And I must drift off likewise as this bug has sapped my energy and my eyes are heavy. Good night all. Sleep tight. Dream of swaying gently in a hammock while the water rushes by.Very HappyVery Happy

Camilla's Avatar Morning Everyone,

19 degrees today so much cooler but the pollen count it says is still very high which plays havoc with the old hayfever. Woke up around 6.30am so rather an early lark. Mrs Collared Dove still sits on her nest and waits patiently for her partner to arrive with more nesting and more mortals of food for her. I have cleaned out the bird bath and filled with fresh water and put some seeds out too.

Camilla's Avatar Well I certainly feel like an old crock lately Fennie.Very Happy thank you for the healing vibes of which I too am sending some back to you as know you are out of salts at the moment with less energy and horrid bug. Do you think you picked this up from Clisson perhaps.

I have tried sowing seeds in my old house garden but they never took quite strange, but my new garden here is South facing and more sheltered perhaps that is why I have been more lucky this time, they do need regularly watering of which I do twice a day. No idea if they are single or double ones or indeed what colour they will be. I am sure if you bought the actual Hollyhock plants from the garden centre Fennie but instead of planting in pots think you may need much larger pot like a large trough with lots of fresh compost mixed in.

Yes must invest in another pair of specs I still can't find my pink prescription ones in the cottage all very odd knowing me I probably threw them out accidentally in the rubbish.Very Happy

Camilla's Avatar Drifted off indeed last night sorry I missed you online Fennie, hope you managed to get a good nights sleep and you feel a little better this morning.

Fennie's Avatar Thank you Camilla, feeling a bit better thanks. Glad you slept well. Re specs you need to look perhaps in pockets, under cushions or sofas or anywhere you may have put them down and then forgotten them.

YD's partner suffers badly from hayfever but the rest of us are immune. But pollen levels are very high.Very HappyVery Happy

Withy Brook's Avatar Glasses- I have a leather folded glasses shaped holder on a leather "string" which hangs round my neck. As they are virtually impossible to find, my dil got one made for my Christmas present. I still very occasionally put the glasses down but they seldom go missing nowadays.
Hay fever - from the age of 10 to 70ish I had dreadful hay fever but then it petered out. This year I am getting a tickly throats and almost hay fever Twisted Evil

Camilla's Avatar Glad you are feeling better Fennie today. I have searched in every possible place for specs. Under cushions back of sofas in all pockets in handbags and in glove compartment in car in the office in all the rooms not a thing!

Camilla's Avatar Think I could do with one of those specs glass case holder on a piece of string Withy too.Very Happy

Bradan's Avatar Morning Camilla and all.

Definitely feel like a crock this morning, my rib was quite sore again last night after being not too bad in the day time so maybe I should give up going to bed. Very Happy

Camilla, I'm sorry to hear you're still in so much pain and also suffering with hayfever Sad

I really do think Fennie should bring us all on a holiday to a warm place with pollenless plants and lots of gin and Pimm's - how about it, Fennie Mr. Green

Posted by: Bradan on 12th Jun 2017 at 10:05AM

Fennie's Avatar Nothing would please me more. We could all go to Madeira and sit on the terrace of a grand hotel sipping Pimms. Any pollen there is blown far out to see and even the rock is hypoallergenic.

But I am sorry too that you should be all in such a poor way. Have you tried sitting up in bed Bradan and so resting the rib?
