Withy Brook's Avatar Nest holes?

Posted by: Withy Brook on 11th Jun 2017 at 08:53AM

Fennie's Avatar Yes but what? Are those burrows made by Puffins or Rabbits? Or both? Or are they caves in Petra at the bottom of which crusaders still lurk guarding the Holy Grail? Or maybe we shall find inside Narwhal tusks, hollowed out and containing fragments of writing, scratched by Neolithic peoples 6,000 years ago, though crossing the Minch in those days must have been even more of a problem than it is today on those wonderfully arcane and romantically named Caledonian MacBrayne boats. What lies in those holes? Lodes of gold, pirate pearls, the eggs of oystercatchers and sandmartins, or tree roots? Very HappyVery Happy

Fairy Nuff's Avatar They look a bit big for martins and too high up for rabbits unless the dune has eroded exposing them and puffins don't normally fly straight into their holes and tend to use old rabbit burrows among the grass so... beats me.
Bonxies? no they nest on the ground, must be sand martins, perhaps you breed them big on the islands. Laughing
