Lily's Avatar Only one? That's a toughie. Currently a camembert called Le Rustique - on special offer at the local Co-Op. Also partial to a wensleydale with mango + ginger.

Fennie's Avatar As Rosie knows, the local cheese at the Mill, made there since Asterix roamed the hills, comes in great truckles the size of flywheels and is called (with great originality for it would be like calling a cheese 'Norfolk') Cantal. You can get old Cantal and young Cantal and, for dithery old folk who can't make up their minds, 'Entre les Deux' meaning between the two.

Cantal is really most excellent. With a bottle of red wine, a loaf of proper bread and a hunk of Cantal, you can easily find yourself in paradise.

Fennie's Avatar PS I hate any cheese with bits in - raisins, apricots, walnuts or any other contamination. The only exception I'll make is Boursin with garlic and herbs but then as that is not a proper cheese it doesn't really count. Mould (as in blue cheeses) doesn't count as contamination either. I love blue creamy St Agur, for instance.

Melted camembert is lovely with crusty bread and I do like ST Augur too. When we lived in France you could buy a spreadable St Augur - lovely

Ivy's Avatar "mould " is the most vile "contamination" as you would put it Fennie. Hate blue cheese. If I could only take one cheese to a lonely island it would be a Parmegiano Reggiano . Most versatile and it keeps for ages.
Otherwise my favourite is Coeur de Paille at the moment.

Withy Brook's Avatar Any stilton other than the original from Rutland is an abomination.
A really ripe - but not over ripe - stilton is hard to beat.
I really cannot tell you what my favourite is - I like lots of them.

Blackbird's Avatar I saw a commercial for chocolate cream cheese but haven't tried it yet. Is it good Jaynebeth? We have loads of flavored cream cheeses here- smoked salmon, strawberry and even pumpkin last fall- all yummy.

I love cheese and almost anything other than the really stinky ones is welcome on my plate.

Asda sell it in tubs or minis - the choccy bit is courtesy of that nice Cadbury chap.

Tried it with fruit - yum, tried it on salty ritz crackers - yum yum, tried it straight off of the spoon - really yum.

Well I am not really a Cheese eater but am becoming a cheese maker with milk leftover from house cow. This is in preparation for school visits later this year.
Today made 2 Caerphilly type farmhouse handmade cheeses. Now made 4 so far.
First one will be ready to taste next week.
Will report.
Plus made ricotta from all the whey.
