When route planning this morning, I was suprised to see irritating Macdonalds adverts on the AA site, and even more suprised to see the directions included reference points referring to these "landmarks ". Sign of the times no doubt.

I was once in Denver with my new husband and we were on our way to Sante Fe. We had dropped off a car that we had been paid to drive to Denver and I hadn't looked at the map to see how far we still had to go. We had made arrangements to be picked up by some friends of friends and were waiting at an off ramp in the warehouse part of town.
We were hungry and E had thought that he'd seen a MacDonald's so he set off on foot and left me there. He was gone for ages and very discouraged when he came back. It had only been a freeway sign that he'd seen- not the real thing.
It was a very long trip.
