Cowart's Common Room
Hello everyone.

I feel really distanced from you all, have just popped in from time to time over the last six weeks as have been busy helping my daughter with baby Phoebe but I do not go over every morning now so have some time to catch up. Phoebe has been very reluctant to gain weight but has done well this week although still way behind her 'target weight'. Lot of pressure on young Mum's one way or another these days. Catching up in garden and ripping out bedroom in house and NOT working over Easter for the first time in years, so life is improving.

Exmoorjane's Avatar Hi QC, lovely to see you here. Can totally understand why you haven't had time to come on.... Can very well remember how worrying it is when a baby won't gain weight - had exactly this with my son James. Is your daughter breast-feeding? Phoebe may need some supplemental feeds....but sure the midwives/health visitors are on the case.
Great you're not working over Easter - me neither! Janex

Pipany's Avatar Good to see you back QC. Hope little Phoebe starts gaining well now. Had it with Isabella, but they generally fly once they get going x

Ivy's Avatar Great to see you back. Had the same problem with my daughter , every gram was a victory but she is okay now (15 years later she's still slim but not skinny) Tell your daughter not to worry these weight curves are just mathematics and have nothing to do with real people!

Re:
Pondside's Avatar Ditto to all the above. My Lillypad was tiny and the visiting nurse actually used the words 'failure to thrive' which had me in tears, as she ate nearly every hour. She was a preemie and a wise doctor told me not to worry that she was the right size for herself and would catch up to the other children by 24 months - and she did.

Re:
Westerwitch's Avatar Aw it is so tough when your baby doesn't gain weight - glad she is ok though - worst thing for any Mum when nursing is being stressed and the whole gain weight thing can be just so stressful.

Lovely to see you on line QC
