Cowart's Common Room
The C word

Yup, celebrity......sorry, sorry, didn't mean to swear.
The answer to this is probably going to be a huge NO but just wondering if anyone knows of any websites that give the lowdown on what Hollywood celebrities are into (ie their latest yoga craze or whatever)? I am mortified to be asking but do need some info!

Talking of 'celebrities' - anyone read Liz Jones in You magazine yesterday? The whole town is in uproar! Last week she made out that the only food you could get round here was anything in a basket and rum babas (hence hacking off every decent restaurant and pub - of which tehre are many). This time she basically dissed the entire population (we're old and boring).... Feathers are flying! Laughing

Jackofall's Avatar is one, just type something like celebrity trivia or gossip into Google and you'll find several sites.

Toady's Avatar I've just read it. Truly revolting - her and her writing. Why do these people come and then spend there whole life dissing it.

Posted by: Toady on 30th Mar 2009 at 09:50AM

Toady's Avatar OOhhh I said dissing. Going to wash out mouth with carbolic.

Westerwitch's Avatar Berludy cheek - wanna borrow my chainsaw . . .

Lily's Avatar Missed the Liz Jones article, agree it's an odd thing to chose somewhere to live out of the whole of the UK and then run it down. Can only think we're meant to be in awe of her sophistication? Hope she doesn't move to Dartmoor!

Exmoorjane's Avatar Thanks Jacko, will try that one... I've been wading through and glazing over at the endless stories of so-and-so has lost a pound!
Re LJ, it is all just so stereotypical and lacking in imagination....this idea that the deep countryside is all yokels swilling cider with no decent places to eat and nothing to do. If she chose to join in and be friendly she'd find it quite different.
I wouldn't mind if her observations were even accurate. Anyhow, the upshot is that she has been banned from the pub and the postman is bemused at his sudden notoriety.

is she not going to join in - cinema club, moth morning and am-dram?

take my hat off to Emily for standing up for the community.

Westerwitch's Avatar I wonder what is really wrong that she turns all her negativity onto the people around her - guess she must really hate herself.

Posted by: Westerwitch on 30th Mar 2009 at 11:51AM

Puffin's Avatar I guess I too are out of step.I don't know who is Fab or tune
into the Gossip sites-per internet or radio,as for names ???

LittleBrownDog's Avatar It's astonishing how someone can live somewhere and care so little about the people around them. Just leaves me asking, why, why, why? Not entirely surprising that she seems to have only made one friend - and that's someone she pays Rolling Eyes.

Have you tried popbitch, Jane? It's the sort of site that makes you feel as though you need to go and wash your hands afterwards, but might be the sort of thing you're after. xx

Faith's Avatar Oh I can't stand the woman.....LJ I mean.

Posted by: Faith on 30th Mar 2009 at 12:20PM

Exmoorjane's Avatar Yes, Wizzard, she is trying those things , but I suspect only to have a good old laugh at them and us. Yup, we salute Emily too - who is hugely embarrassed about being always described as the 'beautiful Emily'....... She is probably seen as a twin soul as she is the only person around who wears perfectly applied make-up and drives a sports car! Right, will stop being so bitchy now and go check out popbitch! Thanks, LBD....

I am amazed she can see what's going on around her to make comment on food or population, I thought she lived in permanent darkness her head was so far ensconced in her rear end!

I think that women would just about say anything to get attention, and succeeds all the time.

CalicoKate's Avatar What a thoroughly unpleasant person. I wouldn't think anyone wanted to be her friend anyway. I think she needs to see a shrink or go back to London or whatever stone she crawled out from. I have read with eyebrows raised the last couple of posts and really couldn't see why I was wasting my time so I stopped!
Can't help on the Celeb front except to say check out the 'OK' & 'Hello' Magazine websites, don't know how much is gossip and how much is 'true'!!Rolling Eyes

Boudicca23's Avatar is usually good for American celebs

Ivy's Avatar Jane as I did not know anything about Liz Jones I looked her up on Wikipedia and I would say the article says allRolling Eyes As to your actual topic : No idea

Posted by: Ivy on 30th Mar 2009 at 06:55PM

Jackofall's Avatar Out of curiosity, I looked at the Wikipaedia article on Liz Jones. Here is the first line:

Liz Jones (born 1958 or before) is an English journalist and writer, who is a full-time bimbo. Read the rest...

KittyB's Avatar Popbitch is great but often leaves you guessing as to the identity - i.e. 'which Latino star did so-and-so this week' (I have never any idea, I need names and ideally pics too to work it out, but then I am v. dim). Heat magazine online will fill you in on all BB and soap stars and some Hollywood - but if you want more US stuff then I would imagine National Inquirer or People to be more relevant.

Posted by: KittyB on 30th Mar 2009 at 08:33PM

Camilla's Avatar Oh Jane, how unfair is that...... hacking off the local food shops and restaurants where you live, trouble is too that L.Jones is getting paid for writing such stuff, is she living in the 'real world'.!
