Cowart's Common Room
Lovely Mother's Day

I've had such a lovely Mother's Day today and I hope all you Purple Coo Mums have too. The past week has been a little bit stressful one way and another and by the end of the week I was feeling a bit flat like you do sometimes. My darling daughter rang me on Thursday night just for a chat. She lives about 50 miles away and has a busy career lifestyle so we don't meet that often. She invited me out for a meal today but I didn't feel up to it and before I knew it was pouring out my troubles of woe. Anyway she sent me a really beautiful card which arrived yesterday. I got ready this morning to go to our local church like I usually do - the local children were taking part in a Mothers' Day celebration. I walked through the door and met my friend who was sitting talking to this smart young woman in black. I took it to be another friend's daughter. A double take - my own lovely daughter was sitting there. She'd taken the times of the service off the internet and travelled the 50 miles just to see me. She doesn't normally attend church and she'd been sitting there for the best part of an hour waiting for me. Made my day more than the most expensive flowers ever could.

Re:
Frances's Avatar And Molly, I hope that the time that you all spent together today, will recur over and over in the days, weeks and years to come.

I have no children, but am a daughter, and was very touched by what your daughter did. Also ... hope that you all won't wait too long for the next visit. (Written as a daughter.)

Re:
Elizabethm's Avatar I am so not into cards and overpriced restaurant meals for Mothers' Day. What your daughter did is exactly how it should be celebrated - lovely to hear!
