Cowart's Common Room
Asbo Friday anyone?

New members won't know about this but, every so often, we have an Asbo Hour or Day or, what the heck, week. This is a time when you are allowed to have a ploody good moan about anything and everything that is getting your goat. There is no need to do any of that 'oh, but I can't moan because so-and-so is so much worse off than I am' stuff - you get to rant the petty stuff, the stupid stuff, the 'I am so hacked off I want to scream stuff'.
So, to get you going, can I please offload the following (small, piffling in the scheme of t hings, but annoying none the less)?

First up, strippers. Remember the 'will I? won't I?' steamer/stripper saga? Two auctions bid on, two auctions lost at very last moment? Got so cross and fed up that thought, pod it, and shelled out for a 'buy it now'. Waited, and waited, didn't hear anything from seller. Emailed. Three times. Finally he got back to me last night and says, 'I'm away until Friday night so I've refunded your money.' Aaaaaaghhh. I want my steamer! Just soooo frustrating because, in the interim, another one came up and went for a mere five quid.

Secondly, can I give you my old house (well, not literally). remember the (over two year) selling saga that we went through? Well, get this. It went on the market again and has sold in - yup - two WEEKS. In a rubbish market. I am feeling so Victor Meldrew I can't contain myself. I. Do. Not. Believe. It.

Re:
Westerwitch's Avatar Well right now I have got NOTHING to berludy moan about I mean how BERLUDY unfair is that. I have done the housework I am on top of my work - pretty much and have even managed to get out and shoot some new stuff for my collections. Lixtroll and Humpty are coming round to dinner - we are going to a Gallery opening on Sunday and the sun is shining and it might snow next week . . . PAH . . .

Salle de Bain's Avatar I dare not start.....

It would just be too terrible to comprehend...

PC members would be suffering from PTSS by the time I'd finished!!

Nothing life threatening I hasten to add....but to do with the sister-in-lawevil:!!!

She's an alien being from the planet 'I must copy everything you do, and buy all the same things that you have'

Aaaaagh!! that saying 'Immitation is the greatest form of flattery' is my daily mantra at the moment.

Do you know? I feel strangely better for getting that off my chest....thanks JaneVery Happy

Have a good weekend....the weather's great here at the mo....really sunny.

Re:
SallysChateau's Avatar Nope nothing to moan about here either, on the contrary feeling rather pleased that the week is over. For goodness sake woman hire a wallpaper stripper but then be warned that all your walls will look awful.

Re:
Jane do you Powersnip at Ebay? I use it and have never lost an auction (unless it went for too much money!) If you want to use my account (you do have to pay to subscribe) let me know and i'll send you the details

Re:
Patsy's Avatar " First up, strippers. Remember the 'will I? won't I?'"

Reading that, I was so worried about you Jane. I know journalism is a precarious business and all, but moonlighting as an exotic dancer may be a step too far...Shocked Fortunately, but not nearly so interestingly, I read on..

My rant is that I feel I'm on hold, waiting for other people to make decisions. Only when they are settled, can I get on with my life.

Then...well the truth is I wrote a really long me, me, me type of moan. I read it over, thought how self-obsessed, how childish, I don't really mean it...and deleted it.

So here I am...the Stepford wife back on track..

Re:
Arosebyanyothername's Avatar Nothing really to complain about personally except that our little theatre in Cowbridge has been attacked again. Last year we had several break-ins - we think by young people as they helped themselves to drink and stole a few costumes (not my best, those are kept off the premises), which were later recovered in a local park. Nothing else has been missed. We replaced the door they smashed by a steel one at great expenses and put more secure fixings on other doors but someone has had another go - so far unsuccessfully.

Westerwitch's Avatar What is powersnip - is it fair and legal . . . and if not how do I get hold of it.

Re:
Crystal Jigsaw's Avatar Haven't really got anything to moan about at the mo, but once the lambing starts (should have been around today) and my tiredness kicks in, I'm sure I'll come back with a vengence!!

Re:
Exmoorjane's Avatar Nooooo, Sally. So sorry to hear that.
Meanwhile I've had an email from my eBay man all sniffy saying he's refunded me as he didn't like my attitude!!!! What is wrong with the man? I want to buy it and assumed he wanted to sell it.....and now he won't!!! Aaaaaghhhhhhh.

But, hey ho, the sun is shining and I have a few less holes in my walls....

Re:
All I'll say is at least you sold your house Jane! Coming up to the anniversary of putting ours on the market, only 3 viewers in total, estate agents coming next week to reduce the price. Can't get a full-time job because have to pick the boys up from school because there's no public transport and no taxis available. Worried sick about being self employed in the credit crunch. I'm stuck in limbo here and could scream!! Still at least the sun's shining on our truly beautiful part of the world! And I've let off steam!!

Re:
Fed up because having to move on - as ever, at someone else's behest (one thing the past seven-odd years have taught me about relying on other people: don't).
Next, er, host has already changed his mind x 2 and looks set fair to do the first-number-at-which-sequence-becomes-apparent thing (that's 3, to you). Great. Just what I need: more dithering eejits with mental health 'ishoos' - it's fab, after being Mrs Senior Manager with own desres and an organised, modestly-achieving, er, lifestyle (whatever happened to 'life', tout court?
Packing up two suitcases and one cardboard box, and wondering why that's (nearly) all that's left of my life.
And where - the hell - I'll be on my next birthday (let alone Christmas). Beggars belief - I usually wake up to ask myself where I am before daring to move.
And wishing I was back in my own home, with all my things around me and the cat beside me, listening to good music on my stereo.
So moving, in my case, invariably triggers the most gut-wrenching depression that I've ever experienced to date. Which is strange, as it's been a regular event now for several years. The only regular event, in fact.
Ho, hum: and I do it all on my own. Isn't that sweet? I am now firmly of the belief that my role in life is to make anyone who crosses my path thoroughly grateful they're not me. If they're not: they darn well ought to be.Evil or Very Mad
