Cowart's Common Room
Hardest Self-imposed Physical Challenge Since Giving Birth

Man, that was EVIL!! Thank you so much for the vibes for the Llanelli half marathon because I certainly needed them. The conditions were appalling; perishing cold, wet and the wind hit you from every angle. At mile 6 we were treated to a prolonged hail shower so as well as being freezing and drenched, it was raining stones as well! By mile 10 I was thinking 'Great, only three and a bit miles and I can stop doing this' only to face the biggest challenge of all - a run round a severely exposed promontory where the wind was so strong it was almost impossible to stand up let alone run. It was only the sight of the finishing line which made me pick up my feet and get home - must have been keen because my unofficial time is a personal best, I think.

Mags - if that's easy then I dread to think what difficult is! Makes the Cardiff half look like a walk in the park.

Right I am off to throw myself on the sofa... and possibly enjoy a few medicinal glasses of wine.

Thanks very much for thinking of me!

Mountainear's Avatar Well done - enjoy taking the medicine.

The weather has been foul even for walking around dressed in coat, hat and scarf. Looks beautiful now but the wind is bitter.

Vic's Avatar Well done Chris. I'm full of admiration for you. I've entered the race for life in May and am still to run 5km (I've managed 4!). It's mentally hard to do. You certainly deserve a few wines! I've just had the dog out in the hail - it wasn't pleasant at all!

Westerwitch's Avatar Good grief that sounds ghastly - next time you think of doing something like this in the Winter we are going to throw you to the floor and sit on you until you come to your senses . . .

Well done you - but I think you are now nearly as mad as me . . .

Preseli Mags's Avatar I didn't say it was going to be easy - that was the masochist woman at the surgery. I'd hate to think what next week's Little Haven half would be like - she said Llanelli was "easy" and "Little Haven is hilly and more fun". The woman's a sadist.

Anyway I'm glad you're back and with a PB! You certainly deserve great vats of wine after that.

So... are you doing the Cardiff half this year then? I might join you...

... or not! Rolling EyesLaughing

KittyB's Avatar Well Done You! I am in awe of anyone who can run like that. I can't manage the stairs without needing a medicinal nip. Have a well earned lie down for the rest of the week. xx

Suffolkmum's Avatar Well done Chris! I'm quaking in my boots though reading about how hard it was, I'm doing a half quite soon. Gulp.
