Cowart's Common Room
I CAN'T SLEEP CHAT POST

A really lovely spring day with plenty of sunshine, even got my sunglasses out to wear. I can see too that the buds on the Rose bushes are beginning to form also.

Nights are still a tad chilly so woodburner lit, and Daisy is lying fully outstretched in front of it snoring her head off.

Just going to take a tour of the site, whatever you are doing for the weekend, have a great one.

If you can't sleep and there are others on line then have a natter here.

Night Night, & Sweet Dreams.

Re:
Frances's Avatar Good evening to you Camilla, and to those other owls I see might be about to land on the perch.

It was a strangely mild early March day in New York.

What a treat I had to meet up with a friend from my teenaged and even college years (and her wonderful professor husband) who were visiting from out of town.

It is so much fun to re-connect quickly and realize that the interim decades since we last sat down at the same table were ... but a blink of the eye.

How I do wish that I had more than tomorrow left on my week's vacation. Just getting the hang of freedom.

See you soon Camilla, and others ... Tiggy, hoping you will land on the owl perch.

Tiggywinkle's Avatar Hi Frances,
Just got home from Australia to-day. Big drop in temp from 38c to 2c. Trying to catch up on the sight. Need to get back into hard work now, and catch up on my blog, not to mention the garden, decorating, emails etc.Had such a lovely time with Yum-Yum (SIL), Palomina, Rascal and Scallwag. Palomina being induced the week of 11 May. Finished all my projects over there, they all wanted me to stay for ever. Nice they feel that way. Hope you had a great week off. It's so lovely to mootch and drift. Tigger keeping wonderfully well. Arrived at the airport looking so smart in his new Cashmere Coat I bought for him in Nice last year. Muffin and Mush were there too. Muffin was so excited, and couldn't wait for me to open the case for her prezzies. Will b3e bck on the perch as soon as I get sorted. xx

Re:
Frances's Avatar Tiggy, you have had a fabulous trip ... you were wonderful to put up the posts with all the wonderful photos. Probably the only way I will ever see those parts of OZ. Sending best wishes to the mother to be with the big appointment.

Glad also that you got that fine greeting at the airport.

Don't dive in too quickly to the demands of your b and b.

(Know that you will dive in quickly, anyhow!) xo

Re:
Frances's Avatar Camilla, I have done some sketching, photographing, and worked on knitting and crocheting. And reading and, and, and.

How I wish that I could have another ... oh, perhaps five, six, seven weeks off!

I will be up early tomorrow to get the laundry done. And then the rest of Saturday will see me making a few quick trips around town to take care of various errands.

Did I make any doctors' appointment for overdue checkups? No, I did not. Did I manage to have lunch or visit with many friends that I have sadly overlooked? No, I did not.

Am I fairly relaxed? Yes, I am.

tea table " at the farm."

Re
Camilla's Avatar Thankyou Seashell, really was like a spring day yesterday, nice to see some sunshine. Woodburner is a blessing, should hopefully stay alight till morning. I will though turn on the electric blanket when I hop into bed soon, do not like a warm room, but the blanket is very comforting on a chilly night.

Hope you are keeping cozy and warm Seashell.

Re
Camilla's Avatar Thank you Puffin,

The first painting is by the artist George Dunlop Leslie, and is entitled:- The Young Gardener. I would have loved to have posted a large copy, but it came through much smaller.

The other painting is by another favourite artist of mine Helen Allingham, noted for her scenes of Cottages, this one is entitled:- A Story On The Lawn.

I have a pair of large oil paintings on my wall in the sitting room, one of woman going out of the Cottage, and the other same woman going back in later, they do very much look like Allingham, been in the family for years although I am not sure who the artist is.

Re
Camilla's Avatar Thank you Frances,

You are such a talented lady, all beautiful creative things, and yes to reading Frances, two books on the go here, and one of them I had to renew at library because I still have not finished reading yet.

I hope that you will be able to follow up that GP appointment, which reminds me, I have one up soon, not serious though.

Perhaps Frances when you have some more free time from shop you will be able to catch up with those friends, do hope so.

Re:
Frances's Avatar Camilla, I have a little book of Helen Allingham's paintings, given to me by a friend who has a cottage in Surrey.

She was a good observer, who saw not just the charm, but also some of the hard reality of living in those picturesque cottages.

Well...I am about to start my wind down. I wish you all sweet dreams. Looking forward to seeing you tomorrow evening.

Re:
Puffin's Avatar we have a painting of a covered bridge scene in the snow
that we went to see once in N.H.We saw it in the summer.
He traveled all over Europe when He was younger .
We seem to collect seascapes.
We even bought one in Ocean City,Md.that was painted in
Bar Harbor,Me. and brought it home.
I think my favorite-is the one that hangs over my desk that my computer sits on.
A white picket fence with sea roses spilling over it and
a brown shingled cottage at the end of path. The sea is in the background with sail boats against a pastel sky.
My dream cottage.
I would have to take it down to tell you who painted it,but she lives on the cape[cape cod].
Almost another of my tales. How we came by it.
I enjoy Claude Monet.
The paintings I like are ones that you don't have to guess what they are surposed to be,[I call it Modern art ???]
I have been told that I am out of step with the times.
The only ones near that look were by my dear friend, now passed away,Karnig who painted in bright pastels.
He spent his summers on an island.
As for music,We seem to enjoy much the same things.
If you run across more Enya ,they are lovely.
Michael Bolton-voice--Jim Brickman-piano.
Nat King Cole or Billy Eckstine---Lou Rawls--all favorites of mine=Have to put on my thinking cap.

Good night again--

The Secret Garden-Green Waves--I played that too.I think any of those would be very relaxing.
I will try and go back and play some more, before they wipe
out.
lovely scenes and magical music--nes pas ??
How do you find all these lovely pieces ??
I shouldn't ask-- your wonderful secret.
