Cowart's Common Room

Now that I have wireless I can spy on you all from the kitchen and conservatory as well as my office upstairs, which is much nicer. It is lovely to be able just to pop in and out whatever I am doing! Have yet to try the sitting room, but odds are very heavily against it as there is a 5ft wall, once the outside wall of a bastle house! The only access to there would be by the house wiring but I think that it needs everything to be on one circuit, which it isn't. I don't go in there often anyway.
Shan't be speaking tonight as it is bridge night.

Salle de Bain's Avatar Wow!..I envy your mobility....but I'd probably get even less work around here if I could view PC in every room. You should see my pile of ironing....I've added another peak to the Cooleys!!

We've been promised broadband for 2012Sad

Incidentally...what's a bastle house?

Withy Brook's Avatar They were fortified houses that were built on both sides of the Scottish border as a defence against the Border Reivers who were thieving, raping, pillaging rogues from both sides in the 15th and 16th century. If you Google bastle houses you will get a good description from Wikapedia.

Milla's Avatar oh Withy you're so scary and modern!
(Hate to admit I thought bastle was a typo for castle!)

Frances's Avatar Congrats Withy. I think that you and your laptop will be spending lots of time together.

Hoping you are dealt interesting cards tonight and that you and your partner play them well.

Silverhead's Avatar Hi Withy, wondered about the card reference. Do you play Bridge or Whist, or is a more oblique reference?

Camilla's Avatar Well done Withy, lots more time on the laptop me thinks.

Hope you did well at Bridge.

Tiggywinkle's Avatar Wireless is so good Withy. I have little areas around the house for variety, but not getting such a great signal in our bedroom. Must look into it. Want to use it on the terrace, but trying to find a way of overcoming the glare. Any one have any tips. Fancy myself in my straw hat in the sunshine, as I figure we have got to have a good Summer this year.

Ivy's Avatar Tiggy the only thing to cope with the glare for me is our awning on the terrace because otherwise the direct sunlight will make it impossible to read the screen, but sitting in the shade feet in sun, chatting on PC oh what bliss

Withy Brook's Avatar Thanks for the wishes of good cards - My last hand was amazing. Any-one play bridge? I had 10,J,Q,K,A in Diamonds and the rest wasn't bad with a count of 22 and my partner opened! I got pretty quickly to 6 diamonds and made 7 - as many as you can get! I forget how many points we got for it but it included 150 for having those 5 top diamonds.
We play rubber bridge for 10p for 10 points.
