Calendar dilemma!

A card was put through the door from the postie - insufficient postage! (didnt this happen to someone else recently?)

I went down to the PO and my full names, first and surname, were on the envelope but I didnt recognise the writing. It was obviously a calendar and I need one having forgotten to buy, but who from? I stumped up the 1.88 that was due - a bit reluctantly - and found it was a calendar and Xmas card from an old friend.

Hmm.... why didnt she have it weighed? She only put a first class stamp on it.

The calendar is NOT at all the sort of one I like. In type ... yes, long, slim, but in style noooooo. I like birds on my calendar, or beautiful scenes, or even cute white arctic animals but not pink drawings of scatty females eating cake or carrying parcels and says I love to shop! I don't love to shop.

So the dilemma is - do I keep the calendar, for thriftiness sake, and suffer for a WHOLE YEAR with a horrible calendar up in my kitchen, or do I take it to a charity shop and buy one I like?

How much do you care what your calendar looks like?

By the way, I'll be buying another one! and I text her to say that I had to pay extra and got this reply back 'Soz bout that!' Ho hum.

It is annoying when that happens? Last year I had to stump up over 1.00 for a card that had been damaged by the post office and was in a polybag with an apology from the Post Office for damaging it. I still had to pay though! Mad

How likely is it that your friend will visit and become aware that you don't have it? How desperate are you to part with your money when you now have a useable calendar?

What about cutting out some magazine images, or greetings card, or your own photographs and pasting them over the inamges you don't like?

Westerwitch's Avatar Eeeeeek off to teh charity shop with it and buy one you really like . . .

I think it is important to have a calendar you like after all you have to look at it for a whole year.

Frances's Avatar Yes, I very do much care what my calendar pictures look like, month after month. If you don't like one, pass it along to someone who might like those images.

In the shop we will be seeing scenes of Central Park through the seasons. At home, I will be seeing another year of fabuous teapots and tea cups and saucers.
