Cowart's Common Room

Hope you are all keeping warm, and vests tucked in...... apparantly we are to expect two weeks of widespread frost as a cold front sweeps in from Siberia. Bookies Ladbrokes are offering 12/1 odds of snow falling in London on New Year's Eve.

Just off to pop a few more logs on the fire and make a pot of coffee, see you later.

I shall leave you with thought for the day.

"Mid all the traffic of the ways,
Turmoil without, within,
Make in my heart a quiet place,
And come and dwell therein.

William A. Dunkerley

If you can't sleep and there are others on line then have a natter here.

Frances's Avatar Hello to Camilla and Tiggy.

What beautiful pictures and words you have posted Camilla!
Your sense of what is just right for a particular evening is without equal.

Our Sunday in New York has been strangely warm. This usually means that rain is on the way, but it hasn't got here yet.

Another day at the shop that tested our beautiful styles and wonderful sale possibilities against the the possibility that customers are very, very concerned about their financial futures. Or ... maybe they are just out of town, or enjoying this Christmas weekend with their families.

In any case, we kept very busy today, helping our customers to find grand bargains, and I also kept busy doing the bi-weekly payroll, and other related computer work, then joined the team on the sales floor to see what we could create.

My second delivery of home-baked cookies for the staff has now been gobbled up. I told those in the shop today, that I might just get back to baking in time for Valentine's Day.

Back home to deliver the last cookie/holiday tip envelope to a doorman. He was delighted that I still had had the oven going.

Now, perhaps I will look toward the New Year.

Camilla's Avatar Hello Frances, thank you.

As the New Year wings it's way in I am hoping that your beautiful shop keeps the customers coming in to buy those garments. I came across a lovely coat on the website today, just had to have it, and went to place the order(son's birthday treat for me), and my size was not in stock, sob......

Your staff are lucky to be having those delicious yummy cookies, so too the doorman to your apartments, you have a kind generous heart Frances.

I am hoping that the New Year will be kind to us, so much suffering in the world, then there is financial crisis, others that are experiencing heartache, wish I had a magic wand.

Frances's Avatar Ah, Camilla, that magic wand would do so much good!

May I now wave my web-powered wand in your direction, urging you to gentle, restful sleep?

I will still be looking around the site, checking blogs. It has been so long since I actually wrote a blog. Maybe I will change that soon.

Nite, nite. xo

TIGGYWINKLE's Avatar Hi there, Have been catching up in the forums. Delighted business is good Frances, and hope it continues for you. How many cookies have you made?
Camilla, rotten about the coat. Horrible when you see something you really like.
Having a really lovely Christmas this year. Just back from my sister's home, where she had dinner for my elder brother and his wife. Last night's party here was a great success. Was so chuffed that our great niece, and 3 great nephews came, being a Sat night. One of my great nephews is a classical guitarist, and played for us, along with some Flamenco, which he studied last year. A little lull till New Year's Eve, and then I must stop swinging the lead, and start focusing on the business again.! Great reductions on flights, and I am very tempted to go over to Paris for a few days to visit Mr.T's cousin for only 65 Euro.He wants me to go, as it is too cold for him. Might be tempted.

Camilla's Avatar Thank you Frances, Tiggy - I did see you online, hope all is well and that Mr T is doing well. Excellent idea Tiggy to maybe add your brilliant knowledge on the Cider Vinegar and Honey to your blog.

Frances - ages since I have wrote a blog, shall look forward to reading yours and perhaps one of those lovely pics you share with us would be the icing on the cake.

Camilla's Avatar Hello Tiggy, thank you. Pleased to know that you are having a really lovely Christmas and the party was a success last night. How wonderful is that, a classical guitarist! I love flamenco, went to see guitar/flamenco live at St Andrews Hall in Norwich moons ago with a friend.

Going to Paris.! I would just love to go Tiggy, I trust Mr T is in good form.

I love the picture of the little house candle holders. Something very warming about them!

Camilla's Avatar Ah, thank you Crucifix, must admit they are lovely. I have a thing about candles and lanterns, love them, and not just for Christmas.
