Cowart's Common Room
an old fashioned rhyme

I read this old rhyme today in the newspaper and thought how true it is, so I thought that I would share it with you.

It's easy enough to be pleasant,
When life goes along with a song,
But the man that's worthwhile,
Is the man who can smile,
When everything around him goes wrong.

Don't you feel better when a stranger shares a smile with you?

Re:
Fennie's Avatar Having watched Morecambe and Wise again last night I can just hear that being said by Eric in the middle of some disaster and slapping little Ern's cheeks at the end of it.

Re:
Westerwitch's Avatar I grin at everyone and get some wonderful smiles back - as well as some suspicious looks.

At the kids old school there was a sign that said - if you see someone without a smile, give them one of yours.

Re:
Faith's Avatar In my grandma's old album that her friends wrote in:

Smile and the world smiles with you,
Weep and you weep alone,
For this cruel old earth,
Wants all of our mirth,
But has sorrows enough of it's own.

Re:
Faith's Avatar PS I particularly like smiling at old gentlemen because it makes them feel young at heart!
