Cowart's Common Room

A lovely Christmas day, ate enough fit to burst, and enjoyed some old Vino and received some wonderful presents.............. ooh, lucky old me.!

My Daughter and Grandchildren spoke with me on the phone early in the morning to wish us Merry Christmas, Grandchildren jumping for joy at what Santa had brought them.

They will be arriving later today with friends, so cooking for ten..... heck.!!

Hope you had a lovely Christmas day.

If you can't sleep and there are others on line then have a natter here.

Night Night, & Sweet Dreams.

Camilla's Avatar Hello Tiggy, lovely to see you here, I just know that little Muffin loved her Rabbit when she opened her stocking on Christmas day.

Frances's Avatar Hello Camilla and Tiggy,

Still Christmas Day here, and I have had a relaxing, lovely day. Time to call friends and family, think about the year gone by, do a little straightening up around the apartment.

I am very sorry that we have now lost both Harold Pinter and Eartha Kitt. Each of them was an original. I am lucky to have seen many Pinter plays and to have seen him perform. I never saw Miss Kitt perform, but did once see her in Central Park, walking her dogs. God bless.

Back to work for me tomorrow. No more sitting down and relaxing for me.

TIGGYWINKLE's Avatar Hi Camilla, Having a quick nip in. All the family just gone. We had a wonderful day. The house is blitzed, and I have friends dropping at 11.30! Would you believe with all the presents Muffin got, the 2 big hits were bunny and a " hello Kitty" little stamp. I always think little cute things appeal to them. Talked with Palomino in Australia. She hates Christmas there in 40 degrees heat, but will be here next year. The weather here is very mild. Spent a lot of time out on the terrace to-day. Will have a roam around.

Camilla's Avatar Hello Frances and Tiggy,

Tiggy - pleased to know you had a lovely day, knew that bunny would be a hit, love the idea of that little Kitty stamp. I bought a sweet Jellycat dog named scrumpty for a dear six year old girl, hopes she liked it.

Is that our Palomino on the site here Tiggy? My HL's cousin has just flown out to Brisbane and she rung to say the heat over there was so extreme she could hardly tolerate.

Frances - Glad to hear you had a lovely relaxing day and that you were able to chat with family. I rang my Sister in London but unfortunately no one at home.

So sad about Harold Pinter, he made some wonderful films and died so young. I did not know about Eartha Kitt, terribly sad too, I thought she was a wonderful performer.

Frances's Avatar Camilla,

I forgot to comment on your cooking for ten! My goodness that is quite a crowd. I do hope that some of the ten will be helping you.

Camilla's Avatar Frances - I cooked a HUGE dinner on Christmas day, turkey, hot baked potatoes, sprouts, carrots, yorkshire puddings, with chestnut and cranberry stuffing. Followed by Christmas puddings served with cream and brandy. I have made some fresh soup from some of the meat with added vegetables.

Tomorrow will be a cold meat/salad and sweet pickles dinner followed by homemade trifle, and the white wine will be on ice, so the meal will be much easier.

TIGGYWINKLE's Avatar Hi Frances, Glad you had a lovely day. Awful going back to work to-day. Christmas goes on for a week here, and nearly too long. Sad to hear about Harold Pinter, and Eartha Kitt. My husband saw her live once, and said she was amazing.
Camilla, Palomino is our youngest daughter, who lives in Brisbane.
I've been there in Jan and the heat and full humidity can be dreadful. Her MIL lives on Straddie Island, just 30 mins from Brisbane. They are there at the moment, and going up to lovely Noosa on holiday next week. Cooking a turkey in 40 degrees heat is no fun.

TIGGYWINKLE's Avatar I am ready to flop. Mr.T was in great form, but is fast asleep. I just can't face clearing up. Had 9 for Christmas dinner. Hope I wake up in time to have the place respectable, before my friends arrive. Have Mr.T's family coming on Sat for dinner. Nightie night. Talk to you tomorrow night. xx

Frances's Avatar Camilla,

Today's feast will make tomorrow's easier ... well done. Great planning!

Tiggy, I quite agree. One day is pretty skimpy. I just hope that we won't be faced with many folks making returns.

I agree that it would be no fun to be cooking a big turkey in summer weather.

Seeing that it is after 2 am over there, and could be time for some to seek the land of nod, I am going to drift off now, and begin to wind down myself.

Best wishes and see you all tomorrow.

Camilla's Avatar I agree Tiggy, somehow heat at Christmas does not seem the same, I cannot cope with very hot weather so don't think I would last long. Pleased to know Mr T is in great form, know we worry about house, is it tidy enough, I am exactly the same Tiggy, but at the end of day I say..... the company is the most important thing and if they are good friends I am sure they will understand.

I cooked nearly all morning and well into afternoon before we sat down to eat at 3pm just before Queen's speech, HL ate dinner, sat for about two hours, and then went off to bed. I was glad of my son's company. Have a lovely day tomorrow Tiggy look forward to seeing you on this perch later.

Nighty Night Tiggy.
