Cowart's Common Room
Merry Christmas All

Wishing you all a safe and peaceful Christmas, and wonderful year to follow.

Thanks so much for every little thing you have done for me this year. You all mean so much, and I feel humble to have such lovely, lovely friends all round the world.

Things are really coming together in my head with regard to the future - study is definitely the way to go - time to lay some foundations for the future, and job hunting wouldn't be easy in the current economic climate.

Have decided to study website design and freelance writing, as well as some natural therapies like reflexology, aromatherapy and herbalism although not defined yet. As the school year begins in Feb the timing is perfect. All can be "taken" with me where ever I go too, and the website design and writing aren't limited to a geographical area.

Suffolkmum, thanks heaps. I contacted Assington Mill and Anne sent me a lovely long and detailed response outlining the way she goes about getting tutors, and how she works out course costs etc - really useful stuff. Aren't people great?

Another neighbour just called in (not a close friend but a nice lady - d'you remember they came for dinner last summer and brought two massive rocks on the tractor???) she had just heard, and wanted to invite me to a big neighbour hood bbq after Christmas. She is setting up a soapmaking business, and may well need a part timer ..... and would like me to do her website...... eeek, don't know how yet!

I picked up Richie's Ashes yesterday, and that was fine. Actually I was surprised by how much there was - a couple of kilos I guess - he will stay on a shelf in our bedroom over Christmas and then I will scatter them on New Years Morning... at dawn. I was really glad he didn't have to sit on a shelf at the Crematorium over Christmas, I promised him I would take him home, and now here he is, home forever.

It still hurts like mad, and tears flow every evening, but I am getting by.

Took four bags of his clothes and a bag of groceries to the Salvation Army yesterday, for which they were very grateful. Popped in a few bits of kitchen ware and a couple of toys. There is always some one worse off afterall.

Anyway, again, Merry Christmas, and much love to each and every one of you.

KittyB's Avatar You're doing so very well, positive thinking and making practical steps forward, yet not shutting in the grief. I'm amazed at how strong you are - and in the times you don't feel that way, you know where we are...
I'll be thinking of you on New Year's Day, as I'm sure we all will - with you in spirit over this Christmas and New Year. xx

Frances's Avatar Hello to you Cowgirl,

Starting the course in February does seem a welcome time. I think that you will do brilliantly at anything that you do.

Yes, it is good that you have got Richie's ashes with you over Christmas. And that you have donated to the Salvation Army is so wonderful at this time of year. (Well, I am sure that giving is very good at any time of year, but perhaps even more so around this time of year.)

Could write so much more here, but will not.

Best wishes, xo

Westerwitch's Avatar Oh Sam so pleased to hear that the way forward is presenting itself. So sorry to hear that you sob every evening, but glad too that you are giving yourself the time and space to grieve properly.

Glad that Richard is home - it would have been awful if his ashes had been elsewhere over Xmas - now you have time to say goodbye finally before you scatter them on New Years Day.

Love and Hugs to you.

TIGGYWINKLE's Avatar Dear Sam, Wonderful that you are so focused, and at the same time taking each step of your grieving for Richie in such an accepting beautiful way. I am churning all sorts of ideas for you in my mind. I think studying website design is a great idea, as there is such a demand, and the timing is great. Will light my candles for you in church on Christmas Day & New Years Day. Bless you and stay well. xx

Toady's Avatar Hi Sam,

Glad you've got Richie home. Your strength just amazes me, i fall apart at the slightest little thing, and I'm glad that we have been of some comfort to you.
All my best wishes for your future plans.

Sam, you are doing so well... a hug from me for I know how difficult a time like this can be. Richie will always be with you and may even let you know that in some way, which you may not recognise at the time, but later on, you will know it was he. Some people find that scary, but it's not... it's so comforting, and a testament of your love for each other, that even when they are no longer with us, in some way, they show us they are perhaps looking out for us, thinking about us.
I send you all the very best for the coming new year, a year of challenges, excitement, struggles, worries, anxieties, and at times, fun even, though that may not seem possible at the moment. Take care now x
