Cowart's Common Room
I CAN'T SLEEP CHAT POST

The last of the presents wrapped, sticky tape everywhere, must start earlier next year. Lots of baking done today, and the cake is iced and mince pies are ready, phew.!

The weather has been very mild today so much so that I did not even relight the woodburner.

As I type this to you tonight my thoughts are with Cowgirl, may the road ahead be kind to you and the fond memories you have of your Boy make the path easier to bear. My love and prayers for you Sam.

If you can't sleep and there are others on line then come and have a chat with us here, we would love your company over a cuppa and a cookie or two.

Night Night, & Sweet Dreams.

Re:
Frances's Avatar Hello owls who have their eyes open!

Camilla, you do sound quite well prepared for Christmas! Your energy will inspire me back into the true spirit of the season after this full day of shop-related matters, in this time of financial craziness.

Let me skip past the shop/financial stuff for now, and just say that I did take a container of my freshly baked cookies into the shop today, and the staff and our wonderful UPS delivery/pickup man absolutely gave them the thumbs up. I don't think that many working women over here do much baking at home these days, so just imagine the rare pleasure of their encountering baked butter, brown sugar, vanilla, eggs, cream, flour et al.

The shop was manic. Lots of last minute gift shopping, and we have completely run out of our pretty holiday gift wrap materials, and are now relying on what we saved up from past years to do gift wrapping.

Day off tomorrow. More baking, but such a relief not to have to rush about. xo

Re:
Camilla's Avatar Hello Frances,

Thank you. I am quite prepared now, must admit I have been rushing around though thinking have I got this have I got that.

I can see why the staff at shop and delivery man loved those baked gems, know they will have tasted delicious, and baked with your kind hands and wonderful flair.

I too had to pop into local shop today Frances to stock up on gift wrapping paper, I also got extra palest pink tissue paper, a favourite of mine for the more delicate items.

No need for alarm clock bells to wake you tomorrow Frances, a longer snooze maybe and then enjoy the day at your own pace.

xx

Re:
Frances's Avatar Oh Camilla, you have gone for a cuppa, and left some snowman magic for us.

Funny thing, if I get enough deep sleep during the night I will always wake up early in the morning, without the alarm.

Great to know that we are now in the time when our dark nights shrink and our daylight lengthens.

That snow that we had a day or so ago, melted, but what ever slushy stuff (not at all pretty) has frozen very solidly as today's temperatures were all well below freezing.

If the sidewalk is not absolutely clear, it is a great idea not to step on any slick bits. You never know when you might be thinking about getting ready for Christmas instead of where your right or left foot is about to land. You might land on another part of your body altogether! xo

Re:
Frances's Avatar Camilla, my uncle often sends me puns, and many of them are funny, and not excruciating.

Here's one of today's crop...

Why does Santa alway arrive down the chimney?
Because it soots him.

Maybe your grandchildren will laugh?

Re:
Camilla's Avatar LaughingLaughingLaughingLaughing I love that pun Frances, your Uncle definately has a sense of humour. Shall tell that pun to grandchildren.

It is usually the way Frances, when one has to be out of the house at certain time you wish the alarm would not go off and then if not having to go to work at certain time we are up and raring to go.

Lot of care needed on that frozen ice, less one becomes a cropper, which I would not like for it to happen to you Frances, tread softly.

Re:
Frances's Avatar And now Camilla, is it not well past the time when even an owl such as you might best be headed to the land of nod?

Please do have sweet dreams. I look forward to seeing you tomorrow. Think that I might just do some more baking, as I have quite a few folks to give my Christmas cookies to, and want to make sure that I give them plenty! xo

Re:
Camilla's Avatar Thank you Frances,

This Owl is off to land of nod now. Happy baking, those folks are very lucky to be receiving those gorgeous delicacies, you have a kind generous heart Frances.

Night Night, and sweetest of dreams, see you tomorrow.
