Cowart's Common Room
For You All

Thanks so much eveybody. You are my CHOSEN family.

Ivy - Oliver's Tree. About this time of year 8 years ago I got Richie what his heart most desired for Christmas. A little yellow Labrador puppy. We named him Oliver, and he went with Richie everywhere - truly his dog. Back then R was working in the Forestry industry carrying out data collection mostly, and Ollie would go with Richie every where. Tragically when he was 18 mths old he ran out onto the road after Richard parked near a forest ready to set out, and was killed instantly by a 4x4. Richie brought him home, and we buried him in the field behind the house, and planted a beautiful Melia tree (Indian Bead) to mark his grave, fencing it off to keep the stock away. Two weeks later I drove to the other end of the island to get 8 week old Josh. And it was the right thing to do.

Westerwitch's Avatar Aw Cowgirl so Oliver is to be re-united with his master whilst Josh is there to comfort you. Tuesday will be a special day when you bring Richard's Ashes home - I hope it brings some peace to you in this shattering time for you.

Cowgirl's Avatar Yes, it will be of comfort to complete my promise, and have him home for ever.

SBS - you're right, Josh was diagnosed with an agressive cancer (what is with this disease???) October 2007, and when they cut it out, they advised they hadn't got it all - the cells went all the way to the edge of what they had removed - and we were given three choices: 1. Have him put to sleep 2. Horribly expensive and painful op to remove most his lower jaw with LONG PAINFUL recovery period and 3. Do nothing and see what happens. We went for 3 despite being warned he probably wouldn't make it to Christmas 07..... He was checked recently and there is no sign of it's return.

Frances's Avatar Hello cowgirl,

Do you continue to see how many folks want to embrace you. I am so glad that old Josh is there with you, and can still just see his amazing muzzle coming in close to the camera for a close up.

Will you please give him a special scratch behind the ears? Thank you! xo
