Cowart's Common Room

A busy day, phew, finally sat down with a hot cuppa. It is blowing a fierce gale outside and the weather is extremely cold, lovely and warm here though with fire lit.

My Grandchildren are arriving for a sleepover later today, ooh better hide those presents away.

Over the past few months lots of my friends have moved, two who have gone to Oz land, one to Herefordshire, two to Somerset, and now have had a Christmas card today to say another has just moved to Gloucestershire, must be something in the air.

Blossom - Sorry to hear you have the nasty bug, Nursey's orders are large bRandy Slammer before bedtime with lots of Honey. Hope you will be feeling much better soon Blossom.

Off to take a tour of the site, if you can't sleep and there are others on line then have a natter here.

Night Night, & Sweet Dreams.

Frances's Avatar Oh just look at those Christmas mice!

And the heart-shaped wreath is another beautiful image.

What a busy day off I have had. Up early to get started with making the cookie dough that I would bake this afternoon.

Then an overseas phone call. Then, looking up, I noticed it had snowed. Grabbed my coat and got my hat, and went out to find some greenery to stand in for the Christmas tree that would never fit in this small apartment.

Heavily berrie holly and fragrant juniper branches came home with me still with a coating of the snow that had fell upon these branches outside the little flower shop. (Posies, it is called, on Amsterdam Avenue.)

Got the branches sorted into two vases. The biggest bunch now have some of my pretty old baubles hanging from the sturdier juniper. I put some of my other decs around the place. I have several chains of golden stars, bought years ago. It is fun to let them have their sway across my bookcases where I also display my Christmas cards. Nice to see the golden glitter in the light.

All day long I kept baking the cookies from the dough I'd mixed up by 9 am. Also kept working, as I am right now, on the crocheted afghan I am making as a gift for my brother.

Busy, but fun.

Snow still falling, after it slipped into sleet mode in late afternoon.

Back to the shop tomorrow.

Whew! xo

Camilla's Avatar Hello Frances, thank you.

Bet those Cookies are gonna taste soo yummy, over here I do sometimes indulge with ones of the choc chip variety.

Now where have I heard those lines in a song Frances - grabbed my coat and got my hat, was it Dean Martin or Sinatra? I love the idea of having festive tree by way of holly and juniper and snow dusted too Frances........ I WANT SNOW.! My Angel has gone missing, I will seek her out so that she may shine on top, only a very small tree this year but I love the tiny girl carved from wood on her ski's hanging on one of it's branches.

Lovely name Posie for that flower shop, your decorations sound very pretty Frances. You have one very lucky brother receiving that gorgeous crochet afghan Frances.

Camilla's Avatar Back again, so much to see on site, I don't want to miss anything. The strong winds are still howling, I can hear it from the chimney even.

Frances's Avatar Camilla, wind still blowing here as well, and the snow has stopped for awhile.

I will now bid you sweet dreams, as I must get some rest before my early return to the shop tomorrow morning.

On Saturdays, I meet the weekly cleaners an hour before the shop opens.

Love the mice! Very cute.

I cannot sleep ever since returning from California with a cold and having sleepless nights first from jetlag and then from coughing. Have now got accustomed to being up at odd hours..... and relaly need to turn my clock back to normal for England!

Camilla's Avatar Hello Crucifix,

Lovely to see you here on owl post. I shall be winding down in a moment, 3.16am here. Sorry to hear you have dreaded cold, there is so many about at the moment, hope you will soon be feeling much better .

My son returned from China late summer and took him a while to get over jet-lag. I think the answer was lots of rest needed so that eventually the body clock will be able to adjust, lots of fluids is good too.
