Marvellous, am in the mood to celebrate. Have just been told I have tickets for England/Italy rugby in Feb.... hope England will have improved by Feb otherwise we will be flattened!

Posted by: HimalayanBlue on 18th Dec 2008 at 08:22PM

Re:
Westerwitch's Avatar Well congratulations - I am not a Rugby fan so don't know how good that is - but guess it is pretty wonderful if you want to celebrate

Re:
It IS exciting WW! It's v difficult to get tickets for 6 nations at Twickenham. Have just cooked my supper - well cooked may be too strong a word to describe it as all vegetables and noodles still appear to be raw .... sigh .... better have another pitcher of mulled wine then!

Posted by: HimalayanBlue on 18th Dec 2008 at 08:31PM

Re:
Westerwitch's Avatar Yup another pitcher it is - just finished chicken jalfrezi - home made . . . by me last night and heated up by HS tonight.

Re:
Fennie's Avatar Well as I'm watching Nigella I suspect it should be a glass of Madeira.

Posted by: Fennie on 18th Dec 2008 at 08:59PM

Re:
Westerwitch's Avatar Um it is all mulled wine - will that do

Posted by: Westerwitch on 18th Dec 2008 at 09:01PM

Re:
Fennie's Avatar Mulled Madeira, so there's a thought. Where is everybody? I see people lurking in the margins. Sorrow no Show and Tell. Nothing to show as yet except my village cake from last year.

Preseli Mags's Avatar Hi everyone! Just popping in on my way to a nice hot bubbly bath. Mulled wine? Nibbles? Don't mind if I do... and also here's a top secret picture of what I'm hiding for Christmas...

Uploaded Image

No, no, No! NOT an alternative to turkey! Rolling Eyes Honestly, you lot! No, H and R have been promised guinea pigs next summer, so they're getting a cage for Christmas... but look what we got on Freecycle! Possibly the most challenging thing I have ever had to hide...

Posted by: Preseli Mags on 18th Dec 2008 at 09:17PM

Re:
Westerwitch's Avatar Brilliant - you could have used that as your Show and Tell

Re:
Lampworkbeader's Avatar HelloBlink am I too late?

Posted by: Lampworkbeader on 18th Dec 2008 at 09:18PM

Re:
Westerwitch's Avatar Berlimey PM - are there guinea pigs in that cage.

Posted by: Westerwitch on 18th Dec 2008 at 09:19PM

Re:
Fennie's Avatar Wow! I love guinea pigs. The children had a colony once, loose in the garden - about thirty strong.

Posted by: Fennie on 18th Dec 2008 at 09:19PM

Re:
Westerwitch's Avatar Nope LWB - the party has barely started

Posted by: Westerwitch on 18th Dec 2008 at 09:19PM

Re:
Westerwitch's Avatar I was never that drawn to guinea pigs - preferred rabbits. What happened to the colony Fennie

Lampworkbeader's Avatar Good 'cos there's nuffin on the tele

Re:
Westerwitch's Avatar Oh I am watching Apparitions as well as being in the Common Room.

Re:
Fennie's Avatar Very sad. Big bad predators - owls? foxes? rats? killed them one by one.
Despite the measures we took to provide shelter for them. They had lived wild for about three months with no trouble and so were hard to round up. But it was almost a blessing in disguise as Younger Daughter was just getting to the beyond guinea pig age. The two founding parents were called Shinny and Michelinks.

Re:
Fennie's Avatar Elder Daughter has rabbits even now. And cats. And husband.

Re:
Lampworkbeader's Avatar i once ended up bottle feeding 2 little GPs called badger and babe. Not mine, but for a friend who decided she needed to go away for the weekend.

Frances's Avatar Still very early over here, I have just gotten home from a round of Christmas shopping, and just happened to stop by the wine shop. Does anyone like Grand Marnier?

Re:
Westerwitch's Avatar Aw that is a shame Fennie - fox got my chickens. We used to have lots of wild rabbits around here - but we have mixy again . . . horrible disease.

Aw bet they were cute LWB

Posted by: Westerwitch on 18th Dec 2008 at 09:46PM

Re:
Faith's Avatar Saw a rabbit with, I presume, mixy the other night. It was blind..... I hate to see itCrying or Very sad

Lovely Christmas cake Fennie. We made one together - me and Hub3 - first one we've every made together. Still got to marzipan and ice it.

Re:
Lampworkbeader's Avatar Well just a sip FrancisWink

Posted by: Lampworkbeader on 18th Dec 2008 at 09:54PM

Re:
Fennie's Avatar Bought a cake this year. But I have to ice and marzipan it. When we children we always had an enormous cake with a village on top - then as we ate the cake the village became undermined like a village on cliffs by the sea.

Posted by: Fennie on 18th Dec 2008 at 09:57PM

Re:
Frances's Avatar Please help yourself!

I am intrigued by the marzipan cake icing. We do not have that tradition over here in the States. Has it been popular in the UK for a long time?
