Cowart's Common Room
For Preseli Mags -The Tattoo

For PM and anyone else interested - here is Em's tattoo. Sorry not shown 'in context' as it were but she wouldnt be pleased if I put up a pic of her lower back and bum!

PM, you said you were thinking about getting one. Hub3 and I toyed with the idea but probably won't. If I did it would be a little seahorse or something like that, in a very discreet place! I don't agree with Liz Jones or whoever it was who labelled them Tramp Stamps!

Preseli Mags's Avatar I think it's a very pretty butterfly. Did it hurt?

I've a feeling that I will never pluck up courage to have one, although I have vowed that if I ever manage to get a book published I'll have something small and discreet to celebrate. One of my friends has a small feather on her shoulder, which is very cute. SIL's tiger is about four inches long and is rather more daring than I think I could manage!

Faith's Avatar Thanks Withy. Yes PM she said it hurt incredibly much but she squeezed her friend's hand and got through!

Salle de Bain's Avatar Don't worry about what other people say. In my field (archaeology) people have been decorating their bodies since time's pretty normal.

Mind you...I wouldn't fancy one myself, as when I was nursing, lots of people used to come in asking to have them lasered off!! This was either because they had changed their minds about it, or because their body had aged, and the inevitable wrinkles and folds had obliterated/distorted the image!

My advice would be to do it if you want to....but do have some foresight....Those tattoos don't always stay like that. Wrinkly late middle aged women (and it comes to us all!) with faded distorted tattoos are not a pretty sight (but that's just my opinion!).

Patsy's Avatar It's very pretty on lovely firm young skin!
I agree with Salle, not so good on older skin...but I couldn't think what to have anyway!
A prickly thistle might be appropriate! Shocked

Faith's Avatar When my eldest had hers done several years ago, she inspected that part of my body and as it hadnt withered or wrinkled despite me being in 40's Wink she thought it would be ok!

I don't really like girls having them on any part that wouldnt be covered up if she were wearing a ball/wedding dress. They are fun but not mostly elegant.

Mountainear's Avatar It is rather pretty and looks as if it has been beautifully done. Never been brave enough myself and it's a bit late now.

The person that invents a semi-permanent tattoo, lasting about five years will make a fortune. There must be a way?Idea

Must admit I have always fancied one but it needs to be something really meaningful to me and very small and discreet and I cannot think of anything. Thats my excuse, maybe I am just afraid of the pain.

Westerwitch's Avatar Absolutely lovely - wish I could pluck up the courage to have one. I have had my belly button pierced and that hurt - but I love it - the piercing not the pain Rolling Eyes but not sure about enduring a tattoo.

Snailbeachshepherdess's Avatar Shocked the boys one night at the tea table when i announced I was thinking of having one - discreet of course - I thought a rosebud just lower back top of bum area - 'Huh' went eldest son 'with a bum that size you could have the whole of Dobbies garden centre on there!'
slaps were duly adminitered!
No - I never did.
SIL has a tortise right at the top of her leg - she says that when she gets into the old peoples home the staff will have her down as a bit of a goer!

Faith's Avatar SBS Laughing cheeky boy!

I agree with you about the having tatts on wrinkly old skin - i.e. when you are at the old peopls home - it just doesnt matter by then! So people you might as well have one if you want! and can bear the pain!

Listen most of us have had children and that's painful!

I want my belly button pierced but I am not tiny like WW - she prob has a flat stomach which I don't!
