Hot Toddy recipes!

Perhaps I should put this in the food forum....but after reading about poor Preseli Mags and her second cold in two weeks...the topic came up.

I find them to be great medicine....and just wondered if anyone had any favourite recipes for these?

I use an Irish coffee glass, then add a slug of Jamiesons, a teaspoon of Manuka Honey, a squeeze of lemon, a bit of cinammon, and some freshly grated ginger. Boiling water is then added and the whole thing is stirred.

Best taken when curled up on the sofa, in front of the fire, wrapped in a big fleecy blanket, and propped up on downy pillows!

Just a glass of malt whisky for me with plenty of sparkling water and a couple of aspirin.

(Then there's the retire to bed with whisky bottle. Put lighted candle on end of bed. Drink whisky. When you can see two lighted candles, put whisky aside, blow one of them out and go to sleep)Very Happy

Pondside's Avatar Put kettle on to boil.
Go to bathroom and start bathwater running.
Into mug pour a double shot of rum, dash of lemon juice and a teaspoon of demerara sugar. Add a dollop of water. Fill the mug with hot water.
Insert self in hot bath, with hot toddy at hand. Stay in bath, sipping the toddy until sweat beads on forhead.
Dry off, wrap up and get into bed.

Withy Brook's Avatar Would one of you be very kind and mix me which-ever is yours. It is Matron's turn to be dosed isn't it?

My hot toddy is a rather chunky version. I put whole slices of lemon, a couple of good chunks of fresh ginger and some manuka honey into a mug, add boiling water and cool it down a bit with a dash (Wink) of whiskey. I bought a bottle of whiskey specifically for this cold last week. It's surprising how quickly the level drops in the bottle when you've got two adults with a cold each! (And no, we haven't been following Fennie's recipe!)

Mountainear's Avatar Do I need to have a cold? Can I just drink it to keep colds at bay - prevention being better than cure?

Cait's Avatar I almost wish I had a cold!
My recipe is like SDB's. I do like the sound of Pondisde's as well.
