Cowart's Common Room

What a foul day....have just got in from cleaning the chicken and duck houses, hence the very wet and smelly gear drying on the Aga! Not the day I would have chosen for the job...but there you had to be done!!

Have loads to, bed making, writing cards etc...but I'm not in the mood.

Instead I'm on there's avoidance for you!

deB has just phoned to say that he is bringing fresh scallops home for tea tonight...and he sounds very excited about it. Yes, it is a luxury here, but he now wants me to come up with something creative to do with them.....oh Gawd!!!

On a good day, when the HRT is at it's strongest, I'd probably pull on the frilly apron, rush to the bookshelf, pull down a Rick Stein or two, and just get on with it...but oh no not today!!! I just want to curl up under my fleecy blanket and hibernate in front of the fire!!!

That's what take-aways are for aren't they? Sadly I'd never get away with that one, as he's a home cooking type of a guy....won't entertain pre-prepared meals!!!

Is it me....or is it the weather do you think? yawn...yawn...

B***** scallops!!

Preseli Mags's Avatar I'm yawning here too Salle. But that's got a lot to do with the fact that I have got a second cold in the space of two weeks. Feeling very glum and tired. I have total Aga envy now. I could just cuddle up to yours. The best I can do is my Morso wood-burner! I'm jealous of the scallops too. Sigh.

Salle de Bain's Avatar Oh! I love Morso wood burners....always fancied one....but alas never owned one. Had to content myself with admiring the ads in the back of the posh and stylish glossys.

Hope your cold is soon better....what about a hot toddy?? Always does it for me!! I put Jamiesons, honey, cinammon, lemon and ginger in mine....

Pipany's Avatar Ah but scallops are best served simply - seared in butter and only cooked for a min or two. From pan to plate to mouth...yum! (plus gets you out of any fancy stuff!)

Exmoorjane's Avatar Or.....coquilles St Jacques (slurp, scrummy).....but fiddly for sure. Ah I'm in mourning for my Aga......

Westerwitch's Avatar Berludy scallops - quick develop an allergy that can only be cured by a take away of YOUR choice.

Definitely the weather. I'm feeling the same, and funnily enough I was cleaning the chicken shed too.
