Cowart's Common Room

It's raining buckets here, more Christmas shopping done and have just spent time wrapping all and tying with pretty gingham ribbon. Have just stoked up the woodburner and have made a lovely hot cuppa.

I am meeting my very dear friend later this morning for lunch and then we are off to her favourite Antiquarian Book Shop which I have never been to before along the coast, I am sure I will not be able to resist a book once I'm there.

Just going to take a tour of the site, then it's off to bed for me.

If you can't sleep and there are others on line then have a natter here.

Night Night, & Sweet Dreams.

TIGGYWINKLE's Avatar Hi Camilla, Just popping in for a minute. Was doing a draft for my next blog. Sorted out Christmas table linen, China, glasses etc., and started lumping decorations down out of the attic. Bet you will buy a book. I have to keep away from book shops. Just ordered 2 from Amazon. One on blogging as my Christmas book from Mr. T and a lovely Ballet Book for Muffin. For Christmas we are sending her to Ballet School, and have just bought her ballet gear.

TIGGYWINKLE's Avatar That reads funny. Her Christmas present is Ballet lessons, we are not sending her away. Must be getting tired.

Frances's Avatar Hello to any of you who might still be awake.

Love bookshops and libraries, and also think Camilla, you will have great fun tomorrow.

Tiggy, how lovely to sponsor the ballet lessons.

I could write so much more about this very rainy, strangely warm day, but want to just let you know that I have checked on to the owl perch.

TIGGYWINKLE's Avatar Did you enjoy your party Frances? Muffin is thrilled to bits. I dressed her up in her pink Ballet clothes, and the bit she loved most, was her blonde hair in a bun on the top of her head, covered with the little pink hair net.

TIGGYWINKLE's Avatar Had to let her see it all, as classes started last week, so she will get the book on Christmas day.

Camilla's Avatar Hi Tiggy,

Thank you. Look forward to reading your blog Tiggy, I am way behind as usual with mine, must do one soon.

We have no decorations or tree, usually just have a little tree with some little festive craft pieces which I have kept since children were small, and have cut some Holly from the garden to use.

Books are a passion of mine although I am a slow reader, will let you know which one I choose Tiggy. I have just bought a book for my daughter's MIL'S birthday next week by the author Rosie Thomas. My son is in publishing so probably will be getting some books as stocking fillers.

Oh bet Muffin will love her new ballet clothes, my daughter used to go to Ballet lessons when she was about 5, but she did not keep it up, she did take to the Piano lessons though for about five years, she really loved that.

Frances's Avatar Hello Tiggy,

Your Muffin is a joy in whatever guise she adopts. But pink has got to be terrific.

The Company Party was fun, much more fun the all the more corporate "Holiday" Parties I attended years ago. The reason is that the folks in my current company actually really enjoy each other. We love to catch up on various lost threads of conversation, compare hair styles (and sometimes colors), and introduce each other to newcomers. It really is a warm atmosphere.

Camilla's Avatar Little Muffin must be thrilled with her new pink ballet clothes, how exciting for her. I love to see children's faces when they open their stockings, such a magical time for them. I still remember my children coming into the bedroom at 5am in the morning with excitement when they opened their presents.

Camilla's Avatar Hello Frances,

Thank you. I am looking foward to seeing my friend, we have a lot in common, books, art, music.

Pleased you enjoyed the Party Frances, your company of staff sound really lovely, I worked for a company in London years ago and the Managers and staff were just the same, I still receive cards from them at Christmas time although some of them sadly now departed.

Camilla's Avatar Frances - I would love to stay longer to chat with you, but I am off to bed now, need to get some shut eye. Thank you for your messages.

I see Woolworth's will be opening their doors for the last time today, as someone said recently, another part of Britain gone for good.

Night night, sweet dreams to you Frances.
