Cowart's Common Room
My tuppnyworth

Just dropping in briefly before I head off to Dr's and other stuff inc organising my things for a two day craft fair tomorrow and Suday. Looking forward to having to having some time next week to spend, reading and leaving messages all over the place and even a blog if I can think of something to blog about.

Sorry not to have been around recently but those that have read my last blog offering will know that t'other half has been in hosp this last week. So I moved to Glasgow for a couple of days after he was transferred to the Royal from our little local hosp which can't deal with his dialysis needs. He had 'pewmonia' and fluid on his lungs which caused his heart to do odd things - not work properly anyway. However he is now back home and occasionally tucked up in bed although he will insist he is better and get up, only to then fall asleep on the sofa!

Have had a quick shufty at the messages this morning and even though am a newbie wanted to add my twopennyworth re interview procedure - Fab, great and if understood won't put off those who really want to be here. I find reading these posts, even if I haven't had time to add a line recently, totally inspiring and would be horrified to learn that they were being abused.
I was trying to explain the site to my mum who is wary of anything like this and ended up saying that it is like an on-line WI! Or what my nan used to go to in Ludlow, the Womens Guild. By which I meant that there is help and support and blether and laughs from, to and by like minded ladies. I explained that I can feel very isolated and that this is a way of making 'friends' and sharing news and ideas, thoughts and problems.

I think that Purple Coo is the most WONDERFUL place I have spent any e-time, and just wish I had found you all sooner, Sorry PFG I should have listened to you months ago!
Thank you to everyone who makes it such. Thank you to all who have welcomed me with open arms and take the time to read my bletherings when I have the chance to write them.
Now I must away to Dr's and get on with the day which has started later than it oughta.

Love to everyone and don't forget to tuck your vests in tis COLD out there.

Exmoorjane's Avatar Fabulous he's back, CK.....that must be such a relief for you.

Glad you felt the interview process works - it's a tough thing to get right, wanting people to feel they are welcome to join (which of course they are) yet keeping the site 'safe'. I think a lot of us are isolated in different ways and yes, this site is a huge resource and comfort and support.
WW works her socks off to keep it that way and it's lovely to hear - from someone relatively new to the site - that you find it so wonderful. For many of us I suspect it's a bit like an old car - we have come to take it for granted - so it's good to be reminded of what we have here.

Westerwitch's Avatar Thank you Calicocate for taking the time to give us your tuppence worth. It is actually very good to hear from someone who has been through the interview procedure - it isn't meant to offend anyone applying - but equally it is meant to protect our community and we have had occasion to say no to applicants in the past and people have also been put off - which to my mind is actually a good thing. If you understand and really want to join PC then you will appreciate the interview process and its objectives.

I am delighted that you are getting so much from Purplecoo - really really delighted and thank you for all your contributions.

I haven't been visiting many blogs - time - but I am so sorry to hear that your husband has been in hospital and glad that he is home again . . love and hugs to you both. xWWx

Cait's Avatar That was lovely to read Kate and I do agree with you.

Sorry to hear your husband has been in hospital (and sorry I did not know before) all the best of wishes for a speedy recovery.

Milla's Avatar I can hardly bear to say it but, yes, vest tucked in. Not, you understand, through any notions of obedience, but to keep warm. Sun may be shining, but I'm not fooled.
Glad husband getting better, CK, worrying times. Mine's just gone off to Cornwall for the weekend, and I woke to the weather forecast, "gales are expected in Cornwall." Just what I need, 48 hours of worry.

Hope your husband gets better soon, sounds very worrying for you.

LittleBrownDog's Avatar Love the idea of an online WI Very Happy. Visions of all stirring cauldrons of virtual jam. Laughing

PS Milla - as long as you've secured that buttonhole in firmly as per instructions, I'm sure he'll be fine. x

Frances's Avatar Hello Kate,

You are very kind to write those words. I think that a beauty of this site is its ability to rise to any occasion. We love to celebrate joy, but can definitely provide a caring ear, eye, shoulder at a moment's notice.

It's great that your husband is back home, and I know you will see that his recovery continues. I love reading your blogs, and also thank you for introducing me to others blogs, sort of increasing our family tree.

Withy Brook's Avatar A lovely post, CK. It is good to hear about new entrants reaction to the interview process - we know that it is essential but poor WW gets upset at times, having to send the email as she does not want to offend/put people off. Of course, true future cooers will understand and, like you, are welcomed with open arms once accepter Laughing It is a lifeline for me I have to admit! Rolling Eyes
