Cowart's Common Room
Update from Cowgirl

A great update from Cowgirl........fabulous news eh?

Hi all,

Richie is doing really well on the chemo with no nasty effects bar his hair loss - which actually looks great with his shaved head - very cool. He has been totally active - up on roof clearing leafs out of gutters, working like a madman on the computer system - we now have huge new 24" monitor and new desk pc which he is trying to network with his work, my laptop, and Dad (so Dad can have broadband) It is proving tricky but he won't give up! We also got Dad a new second hand (3 yrs Old) TV which I went and got while Richie was having chemo last week - it was half an hour the other side of AK, and he set that up and tuned it in for Dad who was rapt. Its a Sony and 29", only $220. Bargain. Then he organised the aerial bloke to come and install Freeview (free satelite tv) for both us and Dad yesterday - primarily means perfect picture but bonus of a few extra channels, and to put an aerial point in the Cabbage Tree - all now done! His work bought him a 14" TV when he was in hospital so that is now installed in the Cabbage Tree and is great.

He is starting to work from home in a small way and it will be full time after Christmas. On Christmas - we decided to have a Taylor family Christmas and are going to Taupo. At first we thought R wouldnt be up for the drive but we will just carry on from chemo in AK and arrive back for the next session so will be no worse than up and down from home, and seriously he is doing so well that its not an issue. He is adamant to start driving soon but we will see.

Have to say I am getting pretty knackered from it all but just pace myself and enjoy being home and in the garden. The veggie plot R put in just before this all happened is a delight and we are eating salad every day from it. Everything is thriving and looking so good. I'm sure being back here is helping R no end. Dad and R went to town last week for the day - tool stuff - and I got the cows into the yards and drenched them all by myself. Very proud. We have 27 again, and they are all thriving. Lucky we managed to get them sold and bought before it all hit the fan. R also organised to get the farm sprayed for weeds last week so that is all done, and his boss came down to visit along with a worker for the day to do tasks round here! They came down every week when we were away to mow our lawns. Awesome company.

Guests in CT this weekend - and for once I will be here!

Love to you all,
Sam xoxoxoxo

TIGGYWINKLE's Avatar Goodness me, what wonderful news Jane. Can't believe all the work Richie has done since he came home. Cowgirl must be so happy. Isn't she amazing to drench the cows herself. I bet they are really looking forward to Christmas.

Pondside's Avatar Thanks for the update, Cowgirl. I'm so glad to hear that R is doing so well - not so glad to hear that he's been up on the roof - I have a terrible time keeping The Great Dane off the rooof. What is it about men and getting up on a rooftop????Confused Perhaps some vestige of of ancient daring-do!

Fennie's Avatar Great news. Maybe because it's impossible to feel like an invalid on a rooftop!
