Cowart's Common Room
Caling All West Country Cooers

On Sunday, 23 November 2008, Lloyd Lee will be presenting his
one man show, Educating Charlie at the Corn Exchange (St George's Hall) Exeter
at 7:30pm Tickets: 8.00. Show lasts two hours approx.

Lloyd Lee, who is a professional actor but still acts with us in Cowbridge when he is 'resting' gives a superbly entertaining picture of Charles Dickens through a series of the characters from his novels.

Born to a debt-ridden father during the harsh years of the early 19th century, (that's Dickens not Lloyd) he was our greatest writer since Shakespeare. The inimitable Boz (as acted by Lloyd) will take us on a journey through his eventful boyhood and adolescence.

Sometimes mirthful, sometimes touching, sometimes sinister; always revealing .... Dickens' characters are conjured up ...... one by one as we meet: The poet for hire, Mr Slum; the Notorious Headmaster, Mr Wackford Squeers; the devoted and optimistic couple, Mr and Mrs Wilkins Micawber; the avaricious Fagin; that most able manager of children, Mrs Pipchin; the benign but learned Mr Samuel Pickwick; the urchin about town, Mr John Dawkins and the witty, wise and sharp Mr Samuel Weller.

A treat awaits if you can get to see it. I have seen this and other similar shows that Lloyd has done. I may yet make it again down to Exeter. I'll let you know if I do and we can all meet Lloyd after the show.
