Cenotaph today

Three men, survivors of World War 1, combined age, 330 years.
We owe so much to them, and to the ones that did not come back.

Toady's Avatar I watched it on the TV and was very touched. Three very fine gents indeed.

Woozle1967's Avatar I watched this today with a lump in my throat. So poignant and, yes, true heroes, one and all.

Faith's Avatar I watched too. I just can't get over how old they are! 108, 110 and 112. It doesn't seem possible to be able to live that long! I kept staring at Harry Patch (110) and thinking no way do you look that old. It must be incredible to meet one of those gentlemen - you must feel so priviliged. It was wonderful that all three were there for the 90th anniversary of the end of WW1. God bless them.

I watched too! Lovely wasn't it?

I do worry that these times and all of the sacrifices might be forgotten when these last 3 men have passed on.

I hope that there will be a way to continue to remember, for yuoung and old alike.

Salle de Bain's Avatar Such a thought provoking event....

Withy Brook's Avatar And the oldest tried so hard to stand and place his wreath himself but sadly he couldn't make it. But he got the nearest to it of the three!

Mountainear's Avatar Hear, hear. Brave man indeed.

Let us remember too the young men and women who continue to represent our country in conflict, some of whom pay the ultimate price and some of whom find their lives changed forever by injury or experience.

Camilla's Avatar They have such remarkable ages Faith, especially what these very brave men went through in fighting for our king and country during the War. I hope that they will be remembered and not forgotten.
