Crystal Jigsaw's Avatar Same to you, Faith. We have friends coming soon and I have baked potatoes in the Aga together with pizzas and salad. Amy has some sparklers but we're not into fireworks. Too many animals here.

Very drizzly outside tonight, damp, cold and miserable!! Despite that, hope everyone enjoys themselves.

Exmoorjane's Avatar Well, we're just back from the neighbours......tons of fireworks, bangers in baps, home-made toffee apples (a revelation)...buckets of wine. Totally fab.
Fortunately the Phantom Pooper is too deaf to hear fireworks and Abso just wants to attack them.....neighbours dogs are gundogs so didn't even bat an eyelid. Do worry a little about their chickens though!

Frances's Avatar Beautiful sparkling photo!

Jane, is a bap some sort of bread? Know I have read it many times, but have never quite been sure.

Milla's Avatar yes it is, sort of flat roll type things. Unless you're from up North when it means bosoms, as in "I'll get me baps out," whips off top and shimmies.

Camilla's Avatar Thank you Faith,

I hope you had a lovely evening too.

Very quite here, only a few fireworks went off about 7.30pm near to where we live, did not last too long which was a blessing for daisy.

Hope little Yorkie was not too upset by loud bangs Faith.

Love Camilla.xx

Milla's Avatar I was told by our supremely sensible dog trainer, when I mentioned that lolly flinched at the buses driving past (narrow pavements / no pavements) and how I reassured her, thinking that that was kind, "Worst thing you could do," she said, "reinforces their sense that something is wrong. Don't take any notice at all and nor will they." She had endless dogs all trained to the hilt and very well-behaved and had no such problems. So I followed her lead and have applied to it all things - poss a contributing reason to what I see as being as anti-anthropomorphism and others might see as heartless callousness. Lolly shows no interest in buses, now, or fireworks, just takes it in her stride. As someone said on the strand started by Toady, maybe they feed off your second-guessing anxiety? My parents' dogs have always been fine with them. One hated Blue Peter's theme music and Lolly hates the hoover - maybe I don't use it often enough to inure her? Wink
