Cowart's Common Room
My cat hates me!!

Uploaded Image

Once deB is fed, watered and packed off to work each morning, my routine is to put the kettle on again for a nice milky coffee. I then nip up the garden and feed the chooks and ducks whilst it's boiling. I usually throw a fleece on over my pyjamas, step out of my slippers, and into my wellies and dash up there smartish.

I keep a pair of old socks in my wellies, to make the job quicker. Both wellies and animal feed are kept in the garage.

A few days ago, I was performing the normal ritual...but remembered that I'd put my wellie socks in the wash the previous day. I couldn't be bothered to go all the way upstairs to get a clean pair, so I decided to go without.

I pushed my foot into one wellie, and felt in the bottom of one what I thought must have been a misplaced trainer sock, so I kept on pushing....harder.

Lumpy, furry, crack! crunch!....uuuugghh!!! it was a mummified mouse ShockedShockedShockedShocked

If you heard a faint scream in the distance around 0830 on Monday, that was me by the way!!

Now my question is this....given the height of the wellies (and they are always kept upright)..... this surely is a calculated and pre-meditated crime committed by one black cat named 'Tuddy Pat'....especially as said boots hadn't even been knocked over during the event?

Could it have anything to do, I wonder, with the recent reduction in cat biscuit quality, as part of our anti-recession, belt tightening measures.....?

Where's lawyerlady? Do I have rights?

Milla's Avatar the cat when I was a child used to seek out my mother's boots - entailing a long wait if necessary. And then reach up to be sick into them.
Frankly, you got off lightly!
And surely mummified has to be better than still warm and snuggling between teh toes??
I'll get me coat.

Milla's Avatar PS are you still having probs with blogging? I'm thinking of your PM yesterday - and then clicked on your name just now to go to your blog and it wasn't found? Can anyone else help Sal??

Ivy's Avatar the mouse fled from your cat, ran up the wellies hid and died of heart attack or inner bleeding. Your cat is still wondering whereit went!

Salle de Bain's Avatar Good theory Ivy, but I wear the boots daily...and he was a mummified mouse. This post-mortem dessication, combined with regular access to exhibit 1 (boots) suggests that death occurred around....WHAT'S THE MATTER?...oh I watch Columbo when I'm doing the ironing on Sunday afternoons!!

Bayou's Avatar Mystery! Who else could have let drop the mummified mouse into your wellies? (My son used to do tricks like that and since then I have the reflex to turn the wellies upside down before putting them on Mr. Green)
Perhaps you should ask inspector Barnaby? (I love this series and I always think that Withy might have offered her home once for a shoot Razz)

KittyB's Avatar shudder. Have to admit I always check my clogs for spiders, but never thought of looking for a mouse in my boots!

Preseli Mags's Avatar I think 'Tuddy Pat' is commenting on the current standard of cat biscuit. Wink

I once found a very squishy recently deceased mouse in my riding boots. Have you ever tried to get long rubber riding boots off in a hurry? Shocked Now I ALWAYS check my boots!

Faith's Avatar Oh yuck and double yuckShocked

Jayem's Avatar no, no! How can you think such a thing? Your Tuddy Pat is simply making an offering to help out in these straightened times, doing the best he can, and leaving his gift where he is certain you will find itWink

Ivy's Avatar Never heard of Saint Nicholas doing good to the poor leaving sweets or money in the shoe - well I have to admit your cat is a month early. You probably have a Dutch or German cat!Rolling Eyes

Lawyerlady's Avatar At least Sal your cat didn't pee in your boots like mine did....and you can never get rid of the smell.I think that probably this could be construed as a threat by Tuddy Pat, a warning of worse to come if rations aren't resumed quickly.psst ever heard of the "puss in boots"mystery?
