Cowart's Common Room
HOMEWORK WARNING - Please read

As next week's homework will be rather a challenge, our kind Headmistress has allowed me to give you advance warning so you can do your prep!

We are choosing Arosebyanyothername's homework. Please see her post called Beautiful Thinking in the October archive. Sorry, I had trouble doing a link, but if you cut and paste the details below you should find the book she refers to, and the chapters in it!

http://www.chbooks.com/archives/online_books/eunoia/text.html

Our homework will be to write a short piece, say a paragraph or so (if you want an A*) or a couple of sentences (B+) on any subject but ....

EVERY WORD YOU USE MUST ONLY USE THE SAME VOWEL

You can choose which vowel you use.

e.g. Gordon won't go to school

Obviously your sentences/paragraphs must make sense/tell a story! (and no slipping in some extra vowels to help yourself out!)

This homework will be announced next Monday, and please wait til Headmistress puts up the proper forum for it.

Thanks very much Arose for this interesting homework!

Faith x

Re:
Westerwitch's Avatar Yes I tried out a test piece and it is difficult. We are so used to using all the vowels that even when I did a sentence I used other vowels and didn't even see them!!!!!

Re:
Unpeuloufoque's Avatar Nope sorry EJ dont think its particularly hard just not fun.I am afraid that all this lets pretend we are at school leaves me a bit cold. ".Adam always sat rapt at art class..... Eve ended Eden ..or ...Toby only owns wool socks.". not to hard to expand them for a paragraph, but why? ...I cant see the point in it? Just not my thing...sure everyone else will have hoots doing it. Nothing to stop other people wanting to play though so enjoy!Laughing

Re:
Pondside's Avatar OK - I'll come clean.
I won't be doing this homework because it doesn't interest me and it feels like work. I like the 'where I live' types of things because they are about people and I am endlessly curious. Things like this though, while very interesting for many, just don't turn my crank, so I'll pass.

Re:
Westerwitch's Avatar Homework is purely for fun and for focus - if you don't think it is fun then not a problem - don't do it.

For some the idea of our Skool is very much liked - for others it isn't. It is impossible to please all the people all the time . . . being on PC and taking part is voluntary. We all work hard to support each other in the best way that we can.

Re:
Exmoorjane's Avatar Don't think I said it was hard and great that you handed yours in early UPL! Full marks and gold star. Very Happy

Re:
Milla's Avatar Maybe we could have one long thread of it, rather than each with its own tail of comments. Sometimes with so many "homeworks" put up at once, there is a daunting list, which you want to read, and then you "have" to read all the comments and before you know it an hour's gone by. so maybe we could just all add to the one post our sentence, or para, or not? For this one, I mean, since it will call for individual response particularly.

Re:
Exmoorjane's Avatar Think that's a great idea. I too get a bit overwhelmed by the many posts - and often feel am missing great conversations but don't have the time to go back over each one.
