Cowart's Common Room
Coffee anyone?

Golly, it's a grey old morning here. The mist is down and there's a chill wind blowing in from the east.

The hawthorn tree outside my window is full of redwings snarfing the berries and a little wood pecker is setting about the nuts in the feeder. Glad there is something good to look at while I write my secretary's report for the WI AGM tomorrow night.

I'll be making coffee about 11.00 - there's some of Kitty's Lemon Cake in the tin - so we could have a slice of that too. Do drop in.

What interesting birds you get in your garden.

Re:
Fennie's Avatar I guess you've all gone, the coffee is cold and only the crumbs are left. Ah well. Too busy even to look in. I had a quick cup of tea and four Brazil nuts and then went back to that thin filament that stands between total collapse and moderate order, namely the todo list. But thanks Mountainear, thanks.

Re:
Pondside's Avatar Here I sit at 0615, green tea at hand and lemon cake only a dream - it would have made a delicious breakfast!
No Hawthorn here, although it's a tree I'd like to plant. Lots of woodpeckers and Stellar's Jays getting ready for winter, and the Island deer have been regulars in the back garden. It's lovely to see last year's babies - now confident yearlings - next year they'll be back with their young. I go all soft when I see them and even forgive their pillaging of my garden.

Re:
Frances's Avatar 9:18 here, and I am sitting down with the very important first cup of coffee of the day, toast is being toasted.

I will soon be going off to vote! Hoping that the polling place will be crowded. Wish that I had some of that lemon cake to take with me. However ... the polls are at a school, and the school generally has a bake sale on election day. Very wise!

Re:
Withy Brook's Avatar Pity Kitty didn't make that second cake - but I expect you-all would have scoffed that too by now! I was in a meeting so couldn't come visiting.
