Re:
Fennie's Avatar Absolutely, Milla. Go for it. I would try Times2. A main piece of about 850 words and one, two or three subsidiaries totalling 400. You are up there with Caitlin Moran in my book.

Now THERE's a compliment.

About your quota for 2008 I methinks, Old Girl.

Re:
Absolutely, absolutely, absolutely! Strangely enough, I've just sent an email to Milla saying something similar. Lovely though we all are, hers is a wasted talent confined to Blog landSmile

Preseli Mags's Avatar I agree too. Come on Milla!

Re:
ChrisH's Avatar Oh yes, do come and be a writer, Milla! You to can spend 48hurs with brief breaks for essentials like the odd cup of tea and afew hours in bed labouring over your typescript. Then you can do battle with the world's Oldest and Slowest printer (it's offical) and a fecking cartridge which is supposed to be new and spits out one 'clean' sheet for every five faded and useless sheets. Come on over, Milla, it's SUCH FUN!!!!!!! GRRR!!!! Slopes off to take borrowed chainsaw to printer. Oh, and don't worry about a little thing like a whole load of guest appearing, either. GRRRR!!!!!!!!

Re:
SallysChateau's Avatar I'll think about it whilst scrubbing myself with mango scented soap in the bathtub and eating fudge.
But I agree, you are funny, funny ha ha not funny odd.

GO FOR IT.

Re:
I've been telling her for a year now-maybe Milla will listen to the masses and I think her hubby thinks so too.

Milla-my dear-I've always believed your forte is comedy/life-I can see some of your pieces as sketches on sitcoms.

I'd give anything to be such a sharp and funny writer. So don't waste that talent my dear...we ALL can't be wrong can we...

warmest wishes
xx

Milla's Avatar Temporarily stumped for words. You are too too kind.

am still chortling, though, from nipping across and reading some of your comments on the blog, very funny dear girls. And am now kicking myself for forgetting the teachers at school, and raffle prizes. For some reason there's always some provenance-unknown stem ginger doing the rounds which I contribute to the raffle (under the cover of the darkness of a plastic bag) and the teachers get job lots of half price stuff (forever marred by an extra sticky sticker I can't get off) but I reckon they are so seriously awash with bath foam and local mustard that an obvious bargain sticker mark is the least of their probs.

Re:
Suffolkmum's Avatar Absolutely, been saying it for what seems like years but is probably about a year! Haven't been near the blogs page today, am the proverbial white rabbit and always late for something, but will catch up eventually.

Re:
Absolutely old girl (or baggage even, as Unpeuloufoque calls you) - I want to retire in some comfort and soon, and that's not going to happen without you knocking Gill and Moran off their perches now, is it?

Woolyworks's Avatar Your blog is one of my favorites. Please take your gift (and it is a gift) to a greater audience!!

Re:
ChrisH's Avatar Trooped back to say I hope my foul mood has not been mistaken for a moan about Milla who is a super writer even if I haven't had a minute to read anyone's blogs today. The technology of my printer has absolutely defeated me and I feel like crying.

Posted by: ChrisH on 30th Apr 2008 at 04:52PM

Re:
Faith's Avatar Oh I was just going to say poor you ChrisH. Our printer's out of order as well, and its very annoying even though I only need to print out a letter to my mother! I know what you mean by crying about technology - one feels so helpless and the smug appliance just sits there and won't work, even though it could if it tried!

Milla, the Cooers are not just being nice. Please make this the year you send some of your work off.

Elizabethm's Avatar I'm another one who has been saying the same thing for a year. You are good my dear and don't be frightened of it. We will still love you when you are famous

Re:
Jackofall's Avatar After all. you were up with the front runners on CL, as far as the 'real' world was concerned, until Darkhorse and what'shername slipped past on the inside(r) track.

Oh please do Milla , and then one day I'd be able to say 'You know that fantastic columnist Milla X - I know her I do ...' You leave a lot of people in print in the shade.

Re:
Exmoorjane's Avatar Oh for pity's sake, woman, how many people does it take to persuade you? Sigh. Deep sigh. How many years have I been saying exaclty this? How many years has Edward been saying exactly this? Print this off and send it of with your submissions please, missy!
A big THANK YOU Faith for putting up the post - here's to seeing our Milla in print.Very Happy

Re:
You've now got me tittering again Milla....thinking of those frightful jelly things in white packaging and bottle green writing-can't for the life of them remember what they were...and bath salts...I always used to get those hard squares of bath salts that always stayed hard and square and smelled of cats pee in the bath!!

Agree! Had breakfast yesterday with an editor from You Mag and she was telling tales of prima donna writers and dearth of get-on-with-it-and-charming-with-it-talent, send something in!

Re:
Bayou's Avatar Go for it, Milla! You can't lose.
There is a very good example of a best seller in blogger's world called la petite Anglaise. (I found out through the Spanish Newspaper "El Pais" Razz)
She is British and started writing a blog when she moved to Paris. Then started an unpublished book and people could get bits of it on her blog. She broke every record of visitors on her blog and became best seller book writer without having an editor straight from the beginning. Cool

Re:
LittleBrownDog's Avatar Indeed, agree with all the above, Milla. You are just too good to bloom unseen and waste your fragrance on the desert air (as someone in Jane Austen said, I think). I would certainly buy anything you were to write. Even a shopping list (possibly. though perhaps not one with Aduki beans on it.)
